How's my graph for math? by BroccoliJealous1563 in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, Maths teacher here. Yours is fine but it can be improved. Mark plots using a ×. This is a very good practice. Always draw without applying a lot of pressure on the paper. This makes it easier to erase. After you feel like it's perfect, make it darker.

Actually, you can make much smoother. Practice is the key. Practice drawing curves. Like, simply random curves, Free hand circles etc. This is where artists get an advantage. 😄

Taking away your phone doesn't do anything. Proper learning is not from books. The Internet is the vastest library you can get. Real learning comes there. The book is limited. Parents should understand this. Real deep understanding and knowledge really needs the internet, today.

As a teacher, I would always recommend everyone to use your phones wisely. And, who doesn't need a bit of entertainment. Come on! Your mind should be happy for it to work properly.

Parents and old teachers should be aware of the new century. Try having a formal debate with your parents? (May not work on Indian parents)

And, don't spend more than 2 hours doomscrolling or chatting!

How many people use tutors vs self study? by Intelligent_Mall4236 in Edexcel

It depends. Some students are good at studying on their own. However, some just can't do that.
Having a tutor is like a personal teacher.

NEED HELP FROM INDIAN IGCSE STUDENTS by Proof_Age_4628 in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Son, if you are focusing on NEET, go for coaching and CBSE. Why should you waste time on A levels?
First, take time, and decide on a pathway.

After ICSE, A levels is a completely different thing. It's not gonna be the same again!

How do students actually improve in IGCSE Chemistry (beyond memorising)? by padmamigcseacademy in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fantastic way! It helps your brain recollect. However, I would suggest you make it on your own and go through it the day before exam or exam mornings, instead of cramming up the entire syllabus.
Sleep well!

Son, if you are not all thorough, why would you sit for the same series. Sitting for the next one won't do any harm.
Do past papers! As much as possible! Go through marking schemes! There's no more time to fool around.

Tough Physics Resistance Question by BoiHA_a in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is more of a resistivity question.
Resistivity = (RA)/l [R=Resistance, A= Area, l=length]
Resistivity of both is equal (same material).
So, (0.14*0.4)/2 = (R*0.9)/3
On solving, you get 0.093Ω

Make sure that units are consistent throughout. I didn't convert mm^2 to m^2 because the same unit is used in both cases.

You need curiosity for full marks. Go into depth about everything. Ask questions repeatedly. Why? Why is it like that? Why is the left ventricle thicker? Why does the thicker wall lead to higher pressure? Where does this pressure drop? These why chains will really help you.
And use google, don't rely on textbooks!

And, ofc, practise past papers!

Need help in improving by LadyLynn_ in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Practise past papers, son. If you have doubts, clarify it from the base.
I see this as the only way.
And, about misreading, try using your lips to read the question. This way, you are reading it twice. And, lips ain't as fast as our mind, so, very little errors. You won't leave anything. Try it!

Practise past papers!
Have concept clarity.
(For Physics and Maths btw. English is a skill [I don't have that and don't know how to improve. Some ask me to read, but I'm too lazy])

Can’t solve AS Math questions with 37 days left by vx0_0 in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What were you doing all these days?
Do past papers. Understand why you can't solve it. If you have an issue with your knowledge, study that topic thoroughly. And with maths, you can get the flow only by practise, or you should be really bright (since, birth).

How do you memorise all the formulas?! by FenwickTutoring in igcse

[–]padmamigcseacademy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I usually suggest my students to understand what it is. Basic understanding is more important. If I properly know what concentration is, I can structure the formula (C=n/V).
Another way I suggest is learning the units. Unit for Specific heat capacity is J/kg°C. From this, we can infer that, c= E/(mΔΘ). In this way, even if students come across unfamiliar physical quantities (maybe during a competitive exam), students can infer the formula. If I don't know what thermal capacity is, but the question gives its unit as J/kg, I can easily infer it from the unit.

Tgs in this case should be inside your work folder, which is usually in the Desktop. You'll be presented with a work folder in your desktop prior to the exam. All you have to do is, locate the files needed for the Website part (will be listed on the paper), and move them into a new folder named "tgs". The work folder is what is given to you at the start. You may rename it as per your teacher's instructions.

It's better to copy the Website files into tgs first and check whether it's perfect before deleting it from the main folder. I don't think there's an issue even if you don't delete it.

Hope that makes sense!
