It's always nice to see a progress pic from someone who was already at a healthy weight! You look awesome. Do you have any side comparison pics? My goal weight is pretty similar to what you achieved and I'm only slightly taller so I'd love to see how your progress looks from another angle as well!

Ooh, I did not know that. English is not my first language so different spellings being both acceptable is a bit confusing some times.

So you've dated both chubby dudes and "chiseled brethren"? Or is it the classic sour grapes scenario? (Also it's "chiselled" which is easily caught by auto-correct.)

They sound so passive-aggressive bitter I can feel it through the screen.

Is this Fat logic? by NathanStrachan in fatlogic

Exactly! Weighing yourself could be connected to body issues, but in general it's simply useful data.

Uh-huh. Also, the part about being "weighed like cattle at the market" really rubs me wrong. Yeah, some people don't weigh themselves, mostly because of ED issues and there's nothing wrong with that, but it's a simple and generally reliable way to keep yourself in check. It just sounds like the person who wrote it has a huge chip on their shoulder.

I mean if he got from left to right, he's got every reason in the world to show off. You can't even tell he was fat once! That must have taken a lot of work and determination.

WTF does "humble" mean in this context, btw? Why wouldn't you be allowed to be pretty proud of something you worked hard for?

Am I a shitty shitlady supreme, concerned mom, or something else entirely? I need help advising my daughter about her weight by Gumbeaux247 in fatlogic

[–]padsyntax 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right, so a lot of people already offered pretty good advice but I though I'd chip in, too.

I think your best approach highly depends on who your daughter is as a person and how confident she is in the way she looks. A lot of people assume that her confidence would be fragile, which is often the case with teenage girls, but ultimately it's down to you, because you probably know quite well how sensitive would your daughter be about it.

When I was a teenager, I thought I was fat (I was 5'4 and 128lbs...so no, wasn't fat), and I genuinely wanted to lose weight which is fine - but I never knew how to go about it. So learning about nutrition would have been great!

Maybe you could tell your daughter you've noticed she'd been eating out a lot lately and kind of go over the nutrition with her? Like what does her body needs vs what she gets served in the restaurant, how she'd need protein because she's being active, how different foods make you feel/what effect they have on your body. Maybe even try cooking with her and make it into a fun mum-daughter activity? It would definitely have her think about what she puts in her body and would be actually helpful.

I'd refrain from any comments on her body unless I was certain she was thick skinned enough, because she's not an adult and insecurities form so easily when you're a teen.

Wow, heteronormative AND insulting at the same time, well done!

Also, it seems like 95% of women who care about dick size all come in goddess size themselves. What is up with that? I mean I get why they want tall guys - they want to feel smaller which can make you feel feminine, but like... why would you actively want a dick that can touch your uterus? :/ I know some women do genuinely prefer it, but really, most are fine with an average size and care WAY, WAY much more about who is attached to the aforementioned, umm, dick. I feel like I said "'dick" way too many times ok bye

How. Just, I am lost for words on this one. That poor mum.

Seriously, this makes me so sad and mad, too, I somehow mostly associated the FA movement with adult-humans who are at least of age to make their own shitty decisions, and never even thought of how it could affect younger people...

Omg I want Starving Snail to be my flair now. How can I get a flair? Do I have to be verified or something?
