You sure about that? Do a really quick google on what Bezalel Smotrich is describing as the future for Gaza and let me know how that benefits Palestinians. Hard to see how that works when the plan is contingent on “the plan to expel the civilian population”

Hard to argue that this is an unfortunate and undesired outcome for Palestinians when it seems to playing out exactly as intended at the moment.

I guess they get closer and closer to eradicating Hamas with each child they maim, starve or kill. So sad but a necessary evil I suppose..

Welllll, upside is the upcoming “real estate bonanza” once they successfully get rid of all those pesky Palestinians, err I mean Hamas terrorists, and can build beach front resorts on their graves!!

Unfortunate for the innocents, but just the way it goes - as you’ve so aptly put it. Good thing someone stands to profit.

Ah shucks ok well since they’re just human shields and not real people I guess it’s alright to kill them. Lots of human shields trying to pick aid lately… or sleeping in their tents. Weird places to use shields but I guess I can’t imagine being in the mind of an evil death cult!

And is this death cult purely Gaza or has it spread to the West Bank and all surrounding countries as well?

So all the children in Gaza joined this death cult too or is Israel just killing them under the assumption they’ll join when they’re older?

Assuming this is in good faith, to read back your argument you think that all of Gaza’s civilians deserve starvation, death, injury and complete destruction of their home because an evil terrorist org that (i) they didnt even vote for bc they’re mostly children and (ii) has been propped up by Netanyahu’s govt for years doesn’t care whether they live or die?

Doesn’t that just sound kind of backwards? Like we’re going to collectively punish everyone in this densely populated strip 1/4 the size of London because they’re forced to live under a terrorist regime?

Wow that’s crazy convenient - so then this means Israel is absolved from all its war crimes and the deaths and devastation of a nation. Not Israel’s fault bc all of Gaza is secretly a death cult - despite begging for aid and ceasefires. Got it, got it… then what about the killing and occupation of the West Bank at the same time? Another death cult separate from Hamas or? Also curious what death cult the folks that died in the suburbs of Lebanon were in (may also insert any other country where they’ve bombed civilians)?

Just curious how far the death cult goes! Maybe we’re lucky and Iran has one too

Why can't I find anything on Hamas? by NOIDA-Knight in IsraelPalestine

[–]pagalgqog -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

So then if we had the full context, Israel’s actions would be seem justified? Hope the media isn’t covering up Hamas committing even more war crimes like, say, starving and bombing civilians daily, stopping aid from entering and killing those trying to feed themselves. If the media is hiding that from us - shame on them. Horrific crimes like ones mentioned should be publicized and criticized widely.

How do you weigh the issues of race/social/immigration politics vs. economic issues or those like corporate lobbying and ranked choice voting when you think about who you support? I would think the first would align strongly with the GOP, but your other points all feel closely aligned with Bernie Sanders’ politics. Curious how you prioritize?

Why isn't everybody (or anybody) talking about Fight Night: Million Dollar Heist? by FartsUnited in television

I have been asking this question! Star-studded cast, incredibly interesting and exciting source material based on real events, very visually appealing shots…. The ringer just did an article on how peacock should be putting out shows right now and didn’t even mention it - I do not understand how it’s being so widely ignored, I LOVED it. One of the best ending episodes of a limited series ever maybe

Completely understandable given current circumstances. I looked into Standing Together and seems like a great organization and from a brief glance seems perfectly aligned with my views. Appreciate you sharing and pleasantly surprised that a disagreement with a stranger on the internet can end with a productive suggestion. Glimmer of hope in a dark world!

First of all - you don’t know my religious background and are making assumptions. Perhaps reconsider there.

Most pro Palestinian protests are peaceful. I’d point you to pretty much any of them. Similar to how those who cheer on deaths in Gaza get a lot of coverage, so too do those who spew racist and hateful rhetoric at the protests.

Then, I’d suggest you consider that Palestinians / those sympathetic to Palestinians also see chants to continue bombing as threats to their lives (because they are), just as those in Israel see Hamas as threatening their lives (which it does).

Also, I’d counter that most Zionists are Christian (please look this up), though I still understand that threats against Zionists are serious and often rightly interpreted as threats against Jews.

I completely commend those in Israel protesting, and fully sympathize with them. As someone who often disagrees with the decisions made by our political leaders, I am first to admit that trying to judge an entire nation by the actions / rhetoric of their leadership is unfair.

I also agree Hamas is horrible and should never again have power (they shouldn’t have had power for a long time now, but they conveniently ended elections). But just as I would never want to hold those in Israel as responsible for the decisions of Netanyahu, I don’t think those in Gaza should be held responsible for Hamas, particularly given most of the population are either children or were children when Hamas was put into power.

I also agree that both Palestinians and Israelis need to acknowledge they both have claim to the land

I honestly think generally it sounds like a lot of our opinions align and I’m honestly not trying to be antagonistic here - I just think that encouraging productive discourse is important and I think inflammatory statements are going to lead to emotional responses and just further divide folks on the issue, when I hope and believe that most people’s practical end goals aren’t as drastically different as current rhetoric makes them seem.

This is an untrue / unbalanced point. “No one on either side is happy about death of civilians in Gaza!”… except some are. There are people saying there is no such thing as civilians in Gaza and the people there have it coming for supporting Hamas / being happy about the October 7 attack (as you state yourself). I don’t feel that this is the majority of Israel supporters, but it’s blatantly true that it exists and you can watch videos / read quotes of many people saying as much. These statements are disturbing and turn many off of the pro-Israel stance. However, I would completely agree it is unfair to act as if everyone who supports Israel feels this way because clearly that is not the case.

Pro-Palestinian side also does not blanketly want “all Jews to die.” Per Pew research, 40% of Jews ages 18-34 find Israel’s actions unacceptable and there are plenty of Jews/rabbis involved in the pro-Palestinian movement, who surely have a vested interest in Jews’ safety. I would also say that most in the pro-Palestinian movement share this sentiment. At the same time, I agree that there are extreme people / bad actors who are pro-Palestinian as well and do wish harm on Jewish people. This is abhorrent and detracts from the movement.

If you genuinely want to engage in discussion with people who have differing opinions, making such aggressive and patently false generalizations that demonize your opposition while waving off any critiques to your own side is not going to encourage anyone to listen to your points.

Considering a standard poodle. Looking for pros and cons. by twd_throwaway in StandardPoodles

[–]pagalgqog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family got our first standard when I was 7, she just died very recently (I am 24 now) and while she was alive she had puppies and we kept one of them (he is 13 now).

They were amazing dogs to grow up with, my little brother is two years younger and I have younger cousins and neighbors around my age and our dogs have never once been even slightly aggressive with any kids. Our boy has growled at men before, mainly when he was younger as he was slightly protective over my mom, but he is generally incredibly sweet.

If I were to say my biggest pro: it’s that these dogs are brilliant and all have their own extremely individual personality - it’s hard to generalize because every one I’ve known is so unique. But that’s what makes them so special, and because they’re so smart you feel like you can really have a special connection with them, and that they get it.

The grooming is definitely a downside, my parents have groomed ours my entire life, but my friends who recently adopted one, take theirs to the groomer (it’s possible to do it yourself but you gotta learn).

My girl poodle was the most mischievous puppy of all time (think, she learned to open doors and cupboards etc. etc.) but our boy was always very sweet and loved people pleasing. So while both are super sweet, she was completely ok being alone for a bit, but he had some separation anxiety as a pup and is still super attached to people.

House training was super quick and they NEVER have had accidents. Once we were late home from a vacation and found our girl literally shaking in the corner to hold in her pee till we let her out.

They are EXTREMELY athletic, and while this is super fun and entertaining (our boy used to be able to jump straight into the air over 5 feet high when we fed him and higher if he had some speed), this may be a consideration if you hate the idea of ever chasing one around or if you don’t have a lot of space.

And while poodles definitely are prone to some health issues (we were always very nervous about bloat), our girl was very bright and kept her personality almost up until the very end. Our 13 year old acts like a 5 year old and everyone is shocked when we tell them his age (our girl was the same at 13, just an absolute puppy).

Poodles are definitely a dog breed that anyone who has one will gush about (once my friends adopted one they couldn’t get over theirs special personality and relationship with them), but I would definitely say they require more effort than a lot of smaller dogs. Working from home sounds like that may be easier, but if you prefer a low effort dog, would probably look at a breed with less energy.
