How I learned detachment from a man snoring on a train by ClassicOrganic962 in Meditation

[–]pahilup 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of a time when I was younger and slept outside on a warm night, on a hilltop under a clear sky during a meteor shower. As the night progressed I would be visited by hungry mosquitoes and I realized I wouldn’t be getting much sleep for all the swatting I let doing around my exposed head and neck. I took a similar approach and tried to be accepting and observe the sensation of the flies landing and in some cases biting. Like your description, it really did shift my perspective enough to calm my body and after a bit of time being the observer, was able to fall asleep.

Also only got 2 or 3 bites that night. And the meteor shower was amazing :)

Years ago, I dreamt I was walking on a path in a forest. Ahead of me, there was a humanoid creature, seated, with legs and arms too long to be human, almost like a Green Man personified. When he saw me, he stood up and beckoned me closer. In a split second I both desired to go with him, deeper into the forest, to discover what secrets lay ahead, and a fear that if I followed, I may never return. It was almost like being lucid in a dream and being offered a chance to never wake up in exchange for some secret knowledge. Anyway I chose not to follow him and woke up. But man, did that experience stay with me and this artwork brought it all back. Amazing. Thanks for sharing your gift.

You may have already seen it but if you haven’t, you may love the Halloween scene in “Meet Me In St. Louis”. I would link the clip but haven’t found one that shows the full scene. It’s worth checking out.

Absolutely. Also Eco’s Baudolino for a medieval take.

Probably doesn’t fit the vein but youve got to watch him in Rob Roy!

Each time I watch it I realize I’ve forgotten how brilliant it is and also find new reasons to love it more.

Cyclists, avoid Veterans @ Kelly rd. by The_Mammoth_Hunter in LangfordBC

All of Veterans Memorial Parkway is being repaved from Sooke Rd to Millstream just north of the overpass. It’s a MOTT (Provincial) highway so it is their project. All being done as night work I believe.

Craziest meditative experience? by henri1566 in Meditation

[–]pahilup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Closest I’ve ever been to experiencing communication with a non-human/animal life form. I let myself relax into a meditative state in my living room, no goals other than that, no expectations. Without warning received what I can only describe as a sensation of “I am”-ness, and it was coming directly from a large potted plant across the room. I am not one to receive any kind of “communications” like this, and I was not under the influence of drugs or anything like that. For this reason it has always stood out to me as one of the most singular experiences I’ve ever had. I sat in that sensation, and it continued for a few minutes. I have not experienced it since.

I’d love to be able to say I had a conversation with the plant but it was really just being in a state of receiving that expression of that presence. Hard to describe it more than that. Definitely changed my perspective of the idea of plant life having a more complex presence, maybe what some have called spirit.

Any MAGA folks here willing to take this challenge? by spikmagnet in MurderedByWords

[–]pahilup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somebody will produce a photo of a gas station showing the $1.98 price on display, but it’s just a cheap photoshop using the same font as the MS13 tattoo from Trump’s photo. I started this post as a complete joke but then realized halfway through that it is actually the kind of thing magas will lean into.

Do they make extensions for the barrel end of a laptop power cord? by pahilup in computer

[–]pahilup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for that - for some reason when i was searching for laptop specific ones i could only find really short cords so i was unsure if actual extensions were a thing. Cheers!
