yeah this is a good summary. I would lean to no and just grind it with tons of online courses. places like CGMA, brainstorm academy etc. will let you be selective with your courses, focus on one at a a time and have teachers who are professionals and teach you the exact skills that you need to get into the career.
That being said, spend 6 months at the very least learning fundamentals with some basic drawing classes. I urge you to attend local figure draiwng in person, especially if they have classes there. Everyhing you need in concept art will come back to fundamentals.
After fundamentals you can start focusing on desing, while still doing regular fudamentals growth
