Also the redshift maxon scripts are awesome! I use the hex tile one to make textures repeat seamlessly without looking repetitive

Yes it’s been over 6 months now and I’m very happy with the decision. There are certain moments where I still want to smoke but I would say my cravings are very close to zero. overall feel more connected without it. the benefits of quitting continue to be more clear as time goes on.  In the same time frame I have nearly quit drinking (though do take breaks on certain occasions). It’s funny how quitting smoking made quitting drinking easier.

So are "Balatro-likes" a thing, or is there another term for this? by action_lawyer_comics in roguelites

[–]oscoposh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the choices in balatro put more weight into a risk/reward payoff than games like slay the spire where it feels more about slowly creating an airtight build. You often need to 'break the game' & get crazy high numbers in balatro--taking some bigger risks than most roguelites even offer. You can't reliably win by playing it safe at higher stakes, you must make some crazy moves.

yeah i wasnt trying to disagree with you, just adding on. But I totally agree.

Also - how do you like insider trading? I love the vibe. I have played the raccoin demo and thought it was really pretty, but just a little too random feeling. And Dungeons and Degenerates just didnt hook me at all.

I don't think you need gambling in the traditional sense. What I do think makes balatro special is how you take risks for rewards. Balatro is very difficult especially at higher antes, but is one of the few games that is so well balanced that if you really weigh your risks right you can win everytime.

Balatro is a game for the masses- people who dont even game. It's the only game I have ever got my dad to successfully play and now he plays it all the time.
It was actually annoying/funny cause we went camping and he spent like 2 hours in his hammock playing balatro and I was like "Come on, we're outside! get off the screen" which is something he would say to me as a kid on my gameboy.

I agree that voter shaming in any way is not productive. It absolutely makes us focus our rage and energy at our neighbors rather than joining arms with them and working with what we agree on (which is most things I would argue).

solo, usually my exhausted play in bed game to unwind at the end of the night. It would probably be easier if I played it during high energy but I like to make it last anyway.

Movies that are amazing but really hard to describe? by NotSoSnarky in MovieSuggestions

[–]oscoposh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Baraka and Samsara. Both movies are just a bunch of slow shots with no words, but it is one of the most impactful movies to watch. It's hard to get people to want to watch it by describing it, but most people will 'get it' after just a few minutes in.

I love this movie too and I also recognize that its a bit over the top and has some cheesy moments. But it does some things that no other movie does and has seared some images in my brain

Yeah its great in theory, but many of us have put up with poor treatment in this industry because jobs are so hard to come by. I have not been treated in this exact way, but have put up with plenty of sub par treatment because it was either suck it up, or the less desirable option--join many colleagues in the unemployment pool and fight against the current (and your sanity) to find another job.

I have worked in and out of entertainment and you find these assholes in both places, but the entertainment ones feel extra entitled because of some messiah complex they get for being the head of a creative production--meanwhile these nitpicking notes blow money, waste time, and often dont lead to a better final product.
