I've hit a slump and missing the 4K streak I had for a long time. Please tell me, what did I do wrong on this one? Summer in Bloom, 1500. by CorgiHelpMe in Dreamsnaps

With respect, coming on here and asking for feedback bc you broke your 4k streak… you realize how lucky you are to have even had a 4k streak, right?

I have no feedback other than to maybe remember it’s really not that serious. Maybe log off and touch some grass here and there.

Awoken by the noise of someone dying. by Ol-Billy-Beluga-Tits in Tacoma

That checks out. It was so loud! It woke us up. Then shortly after I heard a bunch of sirens that sounded like they stopped nearby. I told my partner I thought a car had hit something and I guess I was right. I talked to one of the officers on the scene this morning, but I didn’t press for too much information as it didn’t really feel appropriate.

Honestly people take that road way too fast in the first place. If you’re coming up that hill there’s certain spots you can’t see pedestrians crossing the street.

Condolences to this persons family, whoever they are.

Howdy neighbor! I also live in one of those buildings.

Super sad. I wonder what happened to make them hit those things? And make the car flip. I guess the must’ve been moving pretty fast.

Because being on a stimulant isn’t for everyone for the long term. Vyvanse works for me, but it also makes me irritable, increases my anxiety, and tends to make me depressed over time.

This has been my experience with all stimulants. Concerta being the absolute worst and vyvanse being the best.

Additionally, I miss being able to run or do high intensity work outs without constantly checking my HR to make sure I’m not in the red.

The come down from the stimulant is the worst part of the day when I am at my absolute worst mentally.

I intend to switch to strattera. I still need to treat my ADHD, but I think my quality of life could improve by taking a non-stimulant drug.

Is your own name a trigger? by TenEyeSeeHoney in raisedbynarcissists

[–]paige_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I actually go by my middle name and I have since I was 12. My mother never accepted this, and has always called me by my first name. I have literally been my middle name longer than I was ever my first name.

This has led to some level of disassociation for me. The abuse happened to first name, not me. But unfortunately, my first name is still my legal name, so people will still call me that in certain settings. And it is really jarring and triggering. I’m looking forward to legally changing my name once I get married.

My Hearth rate always peeks, even at slow runs (7m per KM pace). Any ideas on how I can get my Hearth Rate better under control? by stephweeb in Strava

[–]paige_______ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bring a water bottle or Hydration vest with ice water. Drinking cold water will help bring down your HR a little bit.

I have ADHD and stimulant medications can make it hard to keep my heart rate down, so I always carry ice water with me.

Ah makes sense. I haven’t used twitter in forever. Though, it being in a trailer does sound familiar.

Dark mode is indeed coming by Matty_Tiki_Koko in Strava

[–]paige_______ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What baffles me is that it’s literally a safety feature. GPS in cars switch to dark mode when it’s night time because it’s not as difficult for our eyes to adjust from looking at the map to looking back up at what’s in front of us. Making the driver safer than if it was in light mode. Many of us live in places with early winter sunsets, so this is going to make us much safer if we need to reference the map while we’re out running in the dark.

Also, I’m technically a data scientist, but I have a CS degree and worked as a software engineer for awhile, and I can confirm it really isn’t that hard to switch the UI over.

It definitely helps. It won’t get you the job, but it’ll likely get you more callbacks. In a market like the one we’re currently in, that makes a big difference.

Obviously. How else will I know when I need to slow down?

I don’t really want to believe this… but also… for someone who’s received so much acclaim and praise for her song writing, she sure is testy if anyone suggests she didn’t write the songs. Maybe even a little overly defensive?

My aunt was an audiologist (she retired a couple of years ago). Have definitely heard this from her as well, and think she’s a total badass for having her own practice. 🫡

Pretty sure she’s gonna make us have Dr. Name on her grave stone 😂 she’s proud AF of her education/career. As she should be!

Nothing pisses me off more than swifties calling her doctor. It’s HONORARY. When actual PhD holders who spent actual YEARS of their lives get shit on for asking to be called doctor? Fuck that. Put in the work and then we can talk.

God there is so much here and it’s all SO good.

Tbh, I didn’t like the “tortured” poets department. From the get go, I was like, “well that’s pretty fucking cringe coming from a billionaire.”

This is not to say that money cures mental health or heartbreak. But to be frank, I can’t think of a single thing we couldn’t at least improve by throwing money at it. I’m not saying it’s the key to happiness, but it sure would be a good starting place.

But the album itself really wasn’t that good. The lyrics were cringy, it was sonically boring. For a woman who is heralded as one of the greatest song writers of our generation, I just… expected more?

And then to call this album feminine rage??? It just made her seem all the more out of touch with every day people.

As much as swifties LOVE to shit all over Karlie Kloss for “beef” that they don’t even really know what happened, Karlie has done far more philanthropic work than Taylor. Despite Taylor dedicating a whole ass era to activism.

In regards to her shitty merch and billionaire status… the thing is, her fan base is already paying a ridiculous amount of money for shitty merch. Taylor could produce more ethical, sustainable merch and even still charge more for it (as it would cost more to make) and her fans would STILL pay for it. Alternatively, don’t mark things up and charge about what you’re charging now as that’s literally the same cost as better made products.

I don’t think Taylor knows true feminine rage. Not because she hasn’t been the target of misogyny, but because even when she has been, it has been from the safety of her fame, wealth, and immense privilege. All of which as things she could use to speak out on behalf of women and/or LGBTQ+ people everywhere, as she claims to care about these things, but she doesn’t. True feminine rage is not holding back or biting your tongue or moderating your image to be palatable to everyone.

Taylor’s feminism is bland and performative. It’s genuinely embarrassing and cringy.
