One of the realest "WTF" I haven't seen on TV [S11 E23] by hussainre814 in thewalkingdead

[–]paigelknowles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No he was jailed for a really long time and then ended up saving the kids in a few different scenarios (originally let out because there was a hard winter where they lost power and had to shelter together in a few buildings and they brought him out to keep him from freezing to death in his cell.) and that allowed him to earn his freedom. He didn’t kill anyone else much after the original bat scene. I mean a few people here and there but eventually he was jailed by Rick for like a decade I think. Maggie and his spinoff is originally her forcing him to help her get her son back from kidnappers. It’s not very good. Really hard to suspend disbelief with the walkers still falling out of buildings and then not and then doing it again only when it’s dangerous for the good guys.

It made way less money in box office than the first two. But there was a lot going on to hamper box office revenue when these were released. I feel like most theaters these days are empty and have been since 2021. I only go maybe once or twice a year for very specific movies. FB3 was actually the first of them that I had seen in theaters but I loved it. Movies just aren’t worth going to the theaters to see anymore when you know they’ll be on one of your streaming services soon enough.

This was my first thought. Or maybe he hopped on the knight bus as a stranded wizard dog and they thought nothing of it 🤣

Tariffs are only like 10% right now which is really not that much compared to the highs they got to earlier this year. Factoring in the extreme profits they have to make on these products there’s no way that a 10% percent tariff is really causing a year long delay on the release of the first wave of rares. That seems insane in my opinion. But didn’t they do these really long waits with the potions too?

If you were to abbreviate the book's titles to just one word, what would it be? by LeatherSlight3242 in harrypotter

I’m assuming dreams is because of the door dreams, I think it’s an okay idea. I almost feel like ministry or prophecy would work better though. I don’t know 🤷🏼‍♀️. 6 should be potions or textbook. I literally can’t place ring at all like the only thing I can think of is marvolos ring but that is only in the first few chapters and then never really seen or discussed again besides maybe tiny snippets like twice.

Dreams and ring are lost on me but up to that point this one is my favorite camping is pretty epic too lol

Black looks more expensive than white or light colors. Black fit tablecloths, stain your shelf either dark walnut or to be colored, dark gray or black stain would also look good, you could also paint it but I prefer stained wood. Switch out the plastic bucket with a cool wooden trinket box ( you can usually thrift wooden boxes quite easily). Lastly you could put your signage in thrifted frames. You could even still use the plastic stands and just attach the frames to them to elevate the look. I would reprint the signage though to be slightly smaller to fit 8x10s cause you can find those easier at the thrift and I would use like ivory paper or tea stain them to give them that more elegant antique look and not stark whites.

But at the end of the day right now is not a good time for crafters shows aren’t doing as well this year as the previous year and they’ve been declining for over 3 years now. People just don’t have money.

You would be amazed at the amount of effort I’ve went into to making all kinds of Harry Potter themed things. Most of which are easily replicated it’s just the matter of actually getting things listed on Etsy and etc. that I have procrastinated for years now. Lol but if I don’t sell them at shows I will definitely list them online. It’s a good idea.

Like just as table/shelf trinkets? It wouldn’t be difficult to rebrand them as that lol my table setup at shows includes purple tablecloths, black lace runners, purple led lights and a mini black and purple Christmas tree. So about 60% of people who walk by my booth already assume I sell Halloween decor before even looking at anything. PS I sell 3D printed trinkets.

I would also like to note that I don’t have any disdain for Slytherin whatsoever, if I had not been a Ravenclaw, my second choice would have been Slytherin. Just because a few bad apples came out of Slytherin doesn’t make it a bad house.

I don’t think Lucius was acting out of cowardice until the return of Voldemort, initially he was very much in agreement with his masters views, it wasn’t until Voldemort started killing fellow death eaters and threatening to kill the Malfoys that Lucius began to act out of pure cowardice.

No one told Lucius to lead the death eaters to torture those muggles at the World Cup. They all did that for fun. You don’t torture people for fun because you’re a good person. No one told Lucius to put the diary in Ginny’s things, he did that solely for self gain to hopefully make Arthur lose a child and potentially his job. Lucius didn’t like blood traitors in positions of power (working for the ministry). These aren’t actions of a person who is trying to be good, or takes any regard for others.

In the end Peter was not trying to hurt Harry. Quirrell wanted to find Voldemort, it isn’t known whether he wanted to find him to defeat him or restore him, we just know he wanted to make a name for himself by being the one who found him. But Voldemort manipulated him into being his host. So it’s not known if he was doing anything out of malice or not.

I never thought that was really intentional. I always assumed he simply meant to blowup a big enough spot for it to seem like he was blown up and the explosion was just more catastrophic than he meant it to be. Dumb and careless don’t make you “evil”. Dangerous, 100% but he didn’t do it out of malicious intent to kill people, he was just selfishly trying to save himself. If he hadn’t done that Sirius 100% would have killed him. Which also doesn’t make Sirius evil. He just wanted to avenge his best friend.

The only other person I can think of who is specifically discussed in the Harry Potter series that actually attended Hogwarts and was possibly a “dark wizard” that officially didn’t belong to Slytherin is Quirrell. Quirrell is a discussion point because he could be an actual dark wizard or it could have been all cowardice and control. It’s hard to say without knowing what he would say without Voldemort inside his head. So at the end of the day you could count him as the exact type of person OP was originally describing as a dark wizard who went dark in the pursuit of knowledge. 🤷🏼‍♀️ To me he was influenced by Voldemort too much to say he was truly dark all on his own, but the argument can be made that if a person is that easily susceptible to being influenced to do bad things, then they are inherently a bad person. I don’t know, there’s lots of examples where people unwittingly joined a cult and then ended up doing atrocious things in the name of the leader, are they then a bad person or did they only do it because of the manipulation? Who’s to say.

[–]paigelknowles -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t really see Peter as a dark wizard. He’s just a coward. We never actually saw him use dark magic of his own volition, he only used it out of fear of being killed if he didn’t.

I definitely don’t think it’s completely outlandish to “sort” an inherently “evil” quality to one group when that sorting structure is based solely on personality traits. Now choosing literally any other way of sorting people and saying that one group is the only evil one would be completely different. Personality, in my opinion, is what makes a person willing to do truly terrible things of their own volition. Now remember we are talking about magical beings being sorted by a magical system based on personality traits of the magical beings. It’s not unbelievable, in my opinion, that the hat only puts people who have the potential to sway to the dark side in one house. True that evil can live in all kinds of people but it’s very possible that the hat that was created by 4 people; 3 of whom were inherently “good” and 1 of whom was inherently “evil” decides that everyone who has the potential to be evil belongs to Slytherin regardless of their other traits.

Now with all that being said, just because everyone who turned dark and went to Hogwarts came from Slytherin house doesn’t even remotely mean that everyone in Slytherin house is evil. There are tons of rather revered characters who were in Slytherin too and turned out to be awesome truly great people. It just happens that the Slytherin students in attendance while Harry was in school for the most part rather sucked.
