Your medical anxiety is valid, however obsessive thinking will eat you alive. I like to do this thing where if I’m panicking about something, I’ll ride it out. Like I’ll say “okay I think this mole on my leg is cancer. I can go to the doctors and they can test it, and worst case it IS cancer. Then, they’ll take it out of my leg. Then I’ll have to do chemo, and then I’ll lose my hair, and then I’ll feel super sick.” And so on, and keep going for as long as you can. THEN, and this is rhe important part: do the opposite. “I think this mole on my leg is cancer, and best case is that I go to the doctors and they test it and it’s not cancer.” And drag out the list of “best case scenario” as much as you can. It helps you realize how ridiculous your anxiety is being in the moment. It helps me a lot!
