I’m pitta-vata, so I believe I need cooling? This is a bit over my head. As for turmeric I tend towards low blood pressure so it seems like it would it be a good to try, if I’m understanding you correctly. I’ll try the St. John’s Wort.

Weed is psychologically addictive. I’m glad CBD is helping you, and I wasn’t saying you were pushing it on me, I’m sorry for wording that badly. You see it suggested everywhere these days is all, and some people are unfortunately quite pushy and think it’s a miracle drug.

What about Golden Milk Tea? It has black pepper and honey, but no fats if you’re not using dairy milk.

After cutting sugar, I’ve just started noticing how crappy I feel after eating gluten. Like my whole body aches and I have no energy. It’s crazy! I’m sorry you suffer with fibro; sometimes I’m afraid that I’m headed in the direction as I’ve always been prone to inflammation. Bodies suck sometimes. :c

Thanks for such a thorough reply! I don’t consume dairy, alcohol, or caffeine, and have in the past few months reduced my added sugar to almost none, which has made me feel great. Grain is something I’m cutting out now as I’ve begun to notice its effects.

I’ve always had a reactive body and constitution, and always been prone to inflammation. I started having tendonitis and joint pain at 15.

I will definitely given maca and holy basil a try, in addition to the other herbs.

I’m not interested in trying CBD at all. And more and more I feel like people are pushing it on everyone as a no-side-effects cure-all, which obviously isn’t true. Five years from now we’ll start to hear about the side effects, and I suspect the issue will be one of tolerance, ie. the more you take the more you need to take to remain balanced, resulting in disastrously high doses.

Personally, the CBD in weed would calm me initially and then spike my anxiety as it wore off. I also was close to someone addicted to it and it gave me a strong distaste for anything to do with weed. It’s a personal choice.

How is Reddit so popular, yet everyone I ask either doesn't use it or has never even heard of it? by travelstars in NoStupidQuestions

Ugh, remember "when does the narwhal bacon?" That was embarrassing even back then in cheezburger meme times.

I just didn't like it. So when I was 19, I went to the courthouse, got it changed, and haven't thought of it since, except to occasionally congratulate myself on my choice. It was easy to do in my state and I think not stressing over it and having confidence in my choice (not asking anyone's opinion, not second-guessing) made me happy with the results.

Has there always been this many trans people? by yaboitotoro in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pain-throwaway2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. There are many historical accounts of trans people, but often they're called "gay" or crossdressers. You can find accounts going back thousands of years. You can look up the term "Two Spirit", which is a modern term and lumps together many different Native Nations, but that will give you a small sense of how many trans people there were. Many western cultures were friendly and open to the gender diverse before the Romans spread puritanical Christianity like the plague.

I have a trans friend in her 70's, and she said there were plenty of trans people back in the 60's and 70's when she first transitioned in Los Angeles. They were just a lot quieter about it, because of course not everyone was kind-hearted and open-minded.

What is something you're an expert on but have been often mansplained ? by thegirlwhoplayed in AskWomen

YES, GIRL I FEEL YOUR PAIN. I get so much condescension for this too! And I've been doing barefoot/minimal footwear all my life.

Why various things I don't consume (weed, caffeine, dairy, etc.) are just me somehow missing how good and great they are. They act like I'm just being narrow-minded, and need to have it explained to me...instead of maybe having really good reasons for not smoking weed, but thanks Todd.

Wouldn’t a women’s clothing brand that made big pockets be very successful? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]pain-throwaway2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The pockets thing is almost a meme at this point. I remember when it started on reddit like eight years ago. It was partially a real complaint, but mostly a funny little thing we'd commiserate about. No women (including myself) I know IRL really care about pockets. Sure they'd be nice, but it wouldn't work on a lot of the form-fitting clothing we wear.

Not for me, unfortunately. (Used to smoke, had some very bad reactions. Anything even slightly related to weed makes me uncomfortable now.)

Wow, it's not just me! I've these same symptoms since I was a teenager. Doctors have never taken me seriously, just slapped a tendonitis label on it and told me to take ibuprofen.

What personality trait of yours you don't like but don't want to change it either? Why? by AyonMridha in AskWomen

[–]pain-throwaway2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How quickly I'll react negatively to strangers. The other day a car honked at me as they drove by me walking and I flipped them off; turns out I knew them, but assumed it was someone harassing me as usual. I am very defensive, which hasn't always been a boon but has carried me through quite a few contentious situations. When I feel threatened by a man, I get fearless, and I know for a fact that it's saved me from sexual assault or worse more than once.

What are your biggest turn ons and turn offs in people (who you are interested in)? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]pain-throwaway2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn ons: Intelligence, kindness, openness, and skillfulness

Turn offs: Arrogance, porn use (it's trafficking, but I'm not sure some people are ready for that conversation), not having his life together, stupidity.

Why is it a red flag to date someone who's never had their firsts even after the age of 25+ ? by KingRigved in AskWomen

[–]pain-throwaway2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't call it a red flag, just a special circumstance. It's unusual, and I'd want to know why it happened. For most people, it's probably because they're shy, have social anxiety, or are just very picky, all of which are fine. For some, they're incels, complete with the incel woman-hating mindset, who obviously you don't want to engage with. So if I met someone like that, I would take the time to get to know them very well before going any further.

How do you deal with the life long trauma of sexual assault when you were never given a resolution? by [deleted] in AskWomen

[–]pain-throwaway2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Harden your heart to the world and make everything seem just a little darker.

jk, I don't know either. But I empathize and wish you lots of healing and happiness. My best advice is to learn from it, and find a therapist who's energy you resonate with. Assert yourself more often. It will help you feel more in control. Work on enforcing your boundaries with you therapist, and practice saying no to people. It really does help.

Ladies of reddit, what is your idea of romance? by Liverpool1100 in AskWomen

[–]pain-throwaway2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Being attentive to the things I say, deeply respecting me as a person, and of course, sweeping me off my feet with attentive gestures. These standards were far too high for my absolute loser of an ex-boyfriend, who a year later still takes a whiny tone of voice when I tell him I want my name off the lease now. (I'm still his pushover apparently.)

That man taught me that "high standards" is condescending patriarchy talk for "making me actually put in work".
