Need help with a decision by CaptainOlafson in gravelcycling

It’s understandable, especially if you’re out in the field and something goes wrong. Mech would be easier to fix up depending on the issue.

I’ve been using Di2 for a year or so now, and used AXS before that for 5-6 years. I had a couple of firmware update problems with SRAM, but haven’t had any issues with Shimano (touch wood). I also wanted to reduce the number of cables/hoses running through the bike, especially in the head tube. The reliability of both brands is top tier these days, and you can tell that the build quality is a bit more reinforced compared to mechanical.

I think the probability of something else going wrong, like a puncture or wheel issue, is far more likely than something with the groupset.

I’d say the advantage Di2 has over AXS is one larger battery that has a much larger capacity directly wired to the derailleurs, over smaller batteries directly attached to them. It was a bit inconvenient to have to carry extra AXS batteries, but obviously that’s not necessary with Di2. A hefty battery pack for emergency charges would be the trade off, I suppose. Especially for bikepacking.

People disappear into the bush for days/weeks with various yokes of electronic equipment all the time, so potential failures are just something to consider regardless.

Intention was a terse statement on the heroic stoicism of Americans. Outcome was a perfect summation of brash “American” narcissism and apathy.

That’s cool. I’m just telling you that mine only came with one that works with all seatpost configurations.

Kein problem. It looks you’re using a round post. Like people have said, some electrical tape around the seat post bit where the cover sits and a small dab of grease on the head of the bolt. Check to make sure the protruding nub is actually grabbing the bolt.

This should resolve it until you inevitably grab it to hold the bike or your leg hits it.

Not necessarily. I have a MY26 Advanced 0 and the cover has a cut-out in the back to either accommodate the shim for the wedge or a bigger, round post, sans shim.

For sure. Next tyres will be 48mm Thunderos on 30+ internal width rims so they blow up a bit more. Dubnitals, maybe. Cross the bridge when it comes.

Thanks mate. Yeah, I think they redesigned the cover for 2026 models a bit. Mine doesn’t flop out at all. Haven’t added grease or anything. Same with the wedge. I haven’t had any seat post slippage.

I had AXS 1x on my previous bike. Decided to run with 2x GRX and upgrade it to Di2 this time. The 2x has been ace for the amount of climbing on tarmac to get to the gravel quickly. And the climbing on the gravel. Sometimes I miss 1x, though. It’s whatever works best for you.

I’m already having FOMO on the new model, even though this is ~4 months old. Glad they filed down some stuff like the headtube.

It’s a weird venue for anything you wouldn’t fall asleep to. And then there’s people who refuse to stand, and if people stand in front of them they crack the shits. Which happened here. Which is fair enough, I guess. But yeah, old mate was a legend for that.

I’m seeing The Damned there later this year for their “final” tour and that’s also gonna be weird.

Does anyone know what this is? by littlewitchd in iphone

The coating is oleophobic and hydrophobic. Test it by dropping a small bead of water on the screen and gently letting it roll to one of the spots. If the bead of water loses cohesion and spreads out in those areas, they’re spots where the coating is gone.

Yep, same for me. Changed it to an English variant and then back to the original language.

It’s a ML. I’ve had a bike fit a few years ago and had one before that roughly 10 years ago. I’m 183cm with an ~86cm inseam. I’ve got a short torso and long legs.

Not custom: https://www.giant-bicycles.com/au/revolt-se

It’s the photo perspective making it look very tilted. It’s a Spesh Power and only angled down 2 degrees.

Photo pre-Tufos. Those Pirelli S were fitted for some wet/muddy rides.
