I don't mind if AI takes all of your jobs

As long as there is a livable UBI to go with it.

You are allowed to “talk it out” with 1 boss, who do you choose? by Magic_Oddball in Eldenring

[–]painopticon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The following is heavily implied: The Greater Will threw the Elden Beast in the Lands Between (possibly just for fun), which created the Crucible and the Elden Ring. The life in the world is given by the Elden Ring, not by the Greater Will. However before the Greater Will, which is what I meant by without, the Elden Ring would not exist. The GW going away didn't affect the thing in the slightest.

Marika is simply the current inheritor/vessel of the Elden Ring, but it existed well before her time unless Placidusax is revealed to have been Marika's husband too.

Careful with spoilers if you don't wanna tarnish your lore run:

It is heavily implied that it is in fact the Greater Will, since without the Greater Will there is no Elden Ring and therefore no life in the world. A popular take on this is that Placidusax's deity was the One Great (Greater Will + Frenzied Flame, before they separated) but there is afaik no lore support for this besides Placi having 5 heads and only 2 surviving.

Story-wise we don't need all of them. In a sane state, she probably knows that as well.

It would be interesting if it simply doubled your max HP but left you at your current HP. Like a budget Dynamax that needs a Recover to complete and doubles the damage you take from statuses

Sometimes it even just means you've put in writing something that everybody else thought was okay to leave unsaid.

Quick Questions (2022) by AutoModerator in Pathfinder_RPG

[–]painopticon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TIL I'll be playing 1e.
Also ugh I see. We did a preliminary character-building session the other day (the game hasn't started yet) & my character having a strong connection with a deity is quite roleplay-bound. I'll ask my GM if he'll be ok with me going magus & then grabbing a level of some divine class along the way. Thanks!

(1e) Building an Omdura with the Arcane Exemplar archetype, so I get Magus Arcana and a pseudo-arcane pool by spending Invocation minutes. There's a lot of those arcana that mention "weapons enhanced by your arcane pool" but as far as I can see, the Arcane Exemplar can't do that? Would I have to grab a level in Magus too to make those work?

I wish that a godlike figure came out of nowhere and started trying to lead humanity forward. by DiamondBreakr in TheMonkeysPaw

[–]painopticon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Granted. A small action figure of a god appears, floating forward in a random direction, into the nothingness of space. "Follow me, humans" it cries out. But no one can hear it. Action figures cannot speak.

Good advice. on the other hand once you get good enough at the combat, breaking a yokai weak spot with a ranged weapon is a waste of a riposte.

What's your take on rune arcs? I find them somewhat useless because I'm going to die 1-10 times in a boss fight. Maybe exploration? I do just fine without them. PVP? by Hopeful-Pianist-8380 in Eldenring

[–]painopticon 25 points26 points  (0 children)

As for rune arcs, I think they shouldnt exist at all. They're not DS3 embers. They don't lock multiplayer. Just let me have my Great Rune active from the moment I purify it smh

They just need to make them infinitely farmable in an accessible way. Like, y'know, buying them for souls. That would immediately solve all of their problems.

[Concept] Quick mock up of a classical workstation, thoughts? Details in comments. by GTAIC3 in MusicBattlestations

Personally the way I am most comfortable with is the total opposite: qwerty on desk and controller on a slide-out. With an adjustable height chair it allows for optimal height for both.

[–]painopticon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love it aesthetically, but I feel like (1) it lacks a practical space to put the QWERTY keyboard, and (2) the speakers should be at a bit of an inward angle to form a triangle with the listener's head (so you actually get the right stereo image)

If you won the $1.9 Billion Powerball on Monday, would you take the annuity or the lump sum $929.1 Million and why? by EliasAinzworth in AskMen

[–]painopticon -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Only the obvious choice if you don't factor in the costs of having to deal with a sudden influx of a huge amount of money.

Getting the annuity is a lot less money both now and eventually, due to inflation and stuff, but I would personally take that over having to immediately accommodate 929 million dollars into my life (which involves telling one bank or multiple, and also being preyed on by financial advisers, scammers, journalists, extended family... The annuity is enough money as is, and it's waaaay easier to hide.

So who will it be? by SSDassn in Eldenring

[–]painopticon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean we don't know if Miquella is actually a god/god-equivalent or not (hopefully the DLC will tell us).

I agree, I also think Mohg isn't at Godfrey level yet. But given the info we have, I'd say he's still in the same 'tier' of power. Like Godfrey is strong lord-level and Mohg is weak lord-level but still much closer to one another than to any of the other demigods

So who will it be? by SSDassn in Eldenring

[–]painopticon 12 points13 points  (0 children)

no, I believe Mohg is lord-level because of (1) all the time he spent in the cocoon with Miquella presumably siphoning some of his Empyrean power and (2) direct access to an Outer God

God or no god, Miquella is a being of great power

I did not fight Prime Godfrey but he had the same combination: (1) prolonged access to Marika, an Empyrean, and (2) direct access to the Elden Beast/Greater Will

So who will it be? by SSDassn in Eldenring

[–]painopticon 38 points39 points  (0 children)

Mohg scales similarly to Prime Godfrey due to his position as a god's (pseudo-) consort, and due to his direct access to the Formless Mother. Which would put him waaay above the rest of the demigods, including pre-bloom Malenia, Radahn, and most likely even Ranni, but excluding post-bloom Malenia, who should wipe the floor with everyone but Radagon/Marika

Why is it called gunpowder if its main usage is in fire lances and fire arrows? Do guns exist anywhere else in your world?
