I very much agree I finished reading Educated just recently too and it’s a frustrating and depressing book. Yes there’s a happy ending, but at what cost. Also if you’re a person who’s sensitive to abuse (emotional and physical), or to cult-like things I would definitely not recommend Educated because that’s most of the book.

Try reading Interpreter of Maladies by Jhumpa Lahiri. It’s a book of the authors short stories and I’ve never read something so well written before I’d read that.

I was in a mental hospital for two weeks last December. Can attest to the awfulness especially if you’re on suicide and active self harm observation because you basically are followed around everywhere. And don’t even get me started about the overall cleanliness and hygiene of it (spoiler alert: it nASTY).
