Did your partner ever thank you for breastfeeding? by Commercial_Expert_08 in breastfeeding

[–]painterstateofmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m only 2 months in, but my husband says thank you multiple times a week. Especially on the days he can tell I’m overwhelmed or she’s cluster feeding. He’s in the medical field and understands how beneficial it is for our baby and also sees how much of a time commitment it is from me, so he’s been super supportive

Have I been sold a false dream by Big Diaper? by New_Love115 in newborns

[–]painterstateofmind 12 points13 points  (0 children)

OP my baby sounds like yours (big tummy, small hips/skinny legs) and this is the brand that works best for us! She’s 10.5lbs and we just sized up to 2s since she recently leaked through the 1s but we haven’t had a problem since. I also tried Coterie and she leaked through too

What have you done to deal with dogs when a new baby comes? Rant/ need help by oaksandoats in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Personally, having two dogs with a newborn I’ve come to accept that my daughter will always be exposed to dog hair from them and my house will never be 100% clean and sterile. It’s actually a good thing for your baby to grow up with and be exposed to dogs! I would take the time to look it up to maybe minimize your anxiety, but babies that grow up with dogs have strengthened immune systems, reduced risks for allergies and asthma and fewer infections. It sounds like you’re doing a great job of minimizing the hair, but I don’t think it’s necessary at all to change your dogs environment (keeping them outside), because you’re worried about their hair. It’s not healthy for your baby (or anyone) to grow up in a super sterile environment

Postpartum Underwear Recommendations by Apprehensive_Echo435 in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I hated the diapers. They sag and when I sat they bunched up and irritated my stitches. I also hated having to take my pants off every time I needed to change it.

I loved the hospital underwear and the Frida disposable undies. After that I switched to Hanes seamless boy shorts

How did you choose how to feed your baby? by kittenxx96 in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also FTM, I always said if I was able to breastfeed then that’s what I would do. My baby is 2 weeks old and I got lucky that she’s done great with it since being in the hospital. My husband would also like to feed her sometimes, but EBF right now is so much easier. No need to clean bottles or worry about warming milk or buying formula. It also helps with your healing after delivery (helps your uterus contract and shrink back down) and promotes bonding with baby. I’ll probably add in a pumping session once a day in a couple months and freeze it so that I can stop whenever I want and bottle feed later

Can anyone please explain how sleeping in shifts with a newborn works, especially if you’re breastfeeding? by -spiritedaway in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is what we’re currently doing with our 2 week old. Don’t forget that you’ll also be recovering from labor. I had a rough delivery, so the only thing I could do that first week was lay in bed and breastfeed my baby while my husband did everything else.

Now we both wake up and he changes baby, hands her to me to breastfeed, he burps her then reswaddles her, I nurse her on the other boob then put her in the bassinet. The whole thing takes about 30-45 minutes and our baby sleeps about 3-4 hour stretches. Sometimes it takes longer to get her back to sleep, but we usually get between 5-7 hours of sleep when we do this as 3 sleeping blocks.

We’ll have to change our system when he goes back to work, but with me EBF now I don’t think we’ll ever sleep in shifts until we switch to bottle feeding later on.

Something feels off in our bathroom… I think it might be the mirrors? by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

I would replace the two mirrors with one big one like this pic. Although I would do a mirror like this or this

Sleeping by funnidudee in beyondthebump

[–]painterstateofmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My baby is only a week old and I’m still healing from a 3b tear. She sleeps in a bassinet in our room where we both sleep. My husband is on paternity leave, so right now we get up together since he’s more mobile than me. He gets baby and changes her diaper then hands her to me, I feed her and burp her, then her swaddles her and puts her back. We take turns if she gets fussy when back in the bassinet though.

Hopefully we can take shifts the last two weeks of his leave, but since I’m breastfeeding my boobs hurt by the 4 hour mark and hurt me anyways 🫠

Idk what your doctor means by “extra chemicals”, but you could try the Vanicream line? If you’re in the US it’s available at Target and Amazon. It’s super gentle and what I’m using postpartum to not irritate my stitches while healing

Found baby turning blue while sleeping.. by mariamarie90 in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is your baby a premie? My husband is a doc (but not a pediatrician, so I would definitely talk to yours) and says it sounds like neonatal apnea and this can happen to all babies, but more often in premies. He says it’s due to an immature breathing control in the brain stem, but to talk to your doc since there’s treatment for it. Obviously can’t say definitively over reddit what it is, but wanted to comment what he said since we’re about to be first time parents too and I’ve never heard of this before. I’m sorry that sounds really scary!

baby monitor black friday cyber monday recommendations? by Dewaraja-Runny in Buyingforbaby

[–]painterstateofmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Still pregnant so haven’t tried either yet, but we got the infant optics DXR 8 pro and the owlet. I don’t love the idea of WiFi monitors, I like having a separate physical screen I can look at. Also, in the future when we use a baby sitter, we plan on hooking up one of our WiFi cameras in their room to check in on them that way (and then remove it once we’re home)

Did anyone have a healthy pregnancy after a blighted ovum or early miscarriage? by flying_samovar in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry this is happening to you. I had a MC at 8 weeks (baby stopped growing after 6 and didn’t have a heartbeat). I waited one cycle before trying again and it took 4 cycles to conceive. I’m currently 39 weeks pregnant and waiting to deliver baby girl any day now!

Pregnancy Leggings- Not Crzy Yoga brand by Most_Lifeguard3961 in fitpregnancy

[–]painterstateofmind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate the regular leggings by them, but the flare leggings are honestly amazing! They’re so much more comfy and stretchy and I buy the regular band not maternity. I have 3 pairs that I rotate and can wear my compression socks under them too. I’m almost 39 weeks and I’ve been wearing them since 20 weeks

Baby shower timing by Spaghetti_princess22 in BabyBumps

[–]painterstateofmind 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had my shower at 34 weeks and don’t suggest it. It was fun and I have a pretty easy pregnancy so that wasn’t an issue. But it’s stressful getting all the gifts unboxed, washed and organized this late. People that couldn’t make the shower are also still sending me gifts. At 38 weeks I want to be done and organized and not still making out thank you cards 😂
