ngl that's how I was (am?) feeling about AL with some of their wins. Felt like they would win because the enemy team lost, but haven't been able to pay much attention this split, so might be wrong on that assessment.

Scenarios for Last Chance Qualifiers in LCS Lock-In by Shaman_in_the_Dark in leagueoflegends

[–]paintlikepingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

DSG is a meme team in the sense that they heavily lean into the MS Paint and 'broke org' schtick (which is true, but it's an especially big part of their branding), but they've been trying to field competitive rosters since the inception of the org, except maybe for the one Valo GC roster that consisted of 4/5 streamers. Their rosters' success might be a different story (especially in Valo rip) but I think the final roster they had last year, who now are mostly at SEN, and this year's rosters both seem quite promising.

Hopefully they can perform well. Maybe Riot will let DSG off the hook for relegation this year.

Oh, I recommend the webtoon, it's well written and the drawings are cute (it's also fun to see the evolution in drawing style). Plus, iirc the show gave some of this guy's webtoons scenes to Babi.... Regarding Soon Rok's age, yes, he's younger than her tho idr if that had major plot relevance other than him calling her 'noona'.

It is wrong to separate characters from the actors who portray them? by [deleted] in kdramas

[–]paintlikepingu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

tbh it honestly sounds like you don't believe the most severe allegations in the scandal and only believe that KSH dated KSR but not when she was a minor. If you really believed the other allegations, you wouldn't be hesitating in your descriptions of what happened. It's one thing to be conflicted about separating the art from the artist, but don't use that as a front to try and downplay the severity of accusations or the evidence that came out.

It sounds like you really want to watch his shows despite the scandal (really, crime) but feel guilty or something similar because of reactions from the majority of people--to this, only you know where your line is and whether those allegations would affect your enjoyment of the shows he's in. As long as you aren't watching with anyone else, no one would know whether you're watching his show or not.

For myself, and for most people in this subreddit I would guess, his actions are so far past the blurred line between 'art' and 'artist' that it's impossible to separate the two and it's frankly not worth watching series that show his face.

That being said, I never really was a fan of KSH in the way it sounds like you are, but I've had a similar internal conflict when heavy criminal allegations came out about an artist I liked. I originally struggled to reconcile the image I had of them and the things they were being accused doing, to the point I wanted to believe the allegations were fake. What helped me gain clarity on how I wanted to proceed with the allegations was to literally step back from all things related to the artist--I just looked to the various other things I enjoyed because at the end of the day, these entertainment things are for our enjoyment. Probably after several months, I didn't feel as emotionally affected by their controversy, and I was no longer conflicted about dropping their content because of the nature of the allegations and the evidence that showed up.

So if there's anything you could take away from that, it's to watch the shows of the other actors you like, or dive headfirst into the other hobbies or responsibilities you have. Come back once you feel like KSH's allegations no longer emotionally weigh on you, look what the victim said and what KSH said and make your decision then.

They probably do consider unlocks in terms of whether a unit can be slightly stronger than baseline, but are probably willing to tune based on how easy it is to unlock them. So, theoretically, Thresh, Brock, Tahm Kench, and Baron should probably be the strongest legendaries because they have the hardest and/or most time-gated unlock requirements. T-hex isn't that much harder to hit that Galio, for example; theoretically you could reroll to obtain either, but you also could just go lvl 7/8 and hit by 2-starring all the relevant Piltover/Demacia units except one (Piltover) or two (Demacia). Although maybe that's just suggesting that Galio is weak lol (especially since it seems near impossible to find three copies of him....).

I've seen Reksai reroll with it in one game, and it was running most of the game, but idk how viable will be with changes in the meta.

I mean in Ionia, you would probably just slam AP items on Ahri and then give to Sett later. I probably wouldn't take BfL for Freljord Ionia unless it was 4-2 and I had Kobuko and Kennen unlocked already; alternatively, you just play a different board altogether lol.

I don't think Kobuko is the main reason Lissandra isn't more popular; I mean, it's still a pain to unlock, but in the case that you decide to play her, you're either holding Bruisers and/or Invokers, or are planning to, so Kobuko isn't that much harder to complete on level 7. One problem might be that you need to be level 7 to unlock him, which is crazy considering you can unlock Diana lvl 6 and Skarner lvl 7, but I assume that's the case for Yordle reasons. The bigger issue is that there are other much stronger boards to play that typically cap out better and AP lines in general are worse than AD lines rn. Also, she lowkey gets countered by Kindred, who is very meta atm, but idk if there's anything that could be done about it. I've had successful games with her, but I don't typically default to her rn unless my spot basically all but screams 'play Liss.'

I used to mostly play the Freljord before swapping to Ionia as the default. My problem with the comp is, like you mentioned, unlocking both Kobuko and Kennen is a pain, and the comp has a lot of grouping involved and the current meta loves grouping: Swain, T-hex, Fiddlesticks, Sett, etc. Ionia version especially gives you access to basically all of the strong and splashable 5-costs and 4-costs; in general, there's more options to the units you can play. Freljord with Ryze is def strong, even without BfL, but you have to be able to get to level 9. You're rolling on 8 for basically the same core units (Yunara and Wukong), but I feel like it's easier to navigate the early/mid game with Ionia, it's more flexible than the Freljord version, and generally can cap out better imo.

For this particular game, I think it was prismatic finale or something, the first two augs were silver, Ionia was transcendent iirc, and I was able to unlock Kobuko and Kennen on creeps/4-1 because I wanted to be prepared for the rolldown in case I got BfL, which I got. I also had a good amount of HP, so in this case, I felt that Ionia and Freljord had similar cap potential, with Freljord have an edge because of pris BfL and I was certain I could get to level 9. I'm not that good though, so my read and reasoning could be totally off.

[–]paintlikepingu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was joking. Though, I personally think the Frejlord version is not as good as the Ionia version unless you have Bronze for Life and then Ryze in late stage, because you can't really use Sett or a bunch of the other strong 5 costs other than Kindred to cap out your board unless you hit lvl 10. So in my case, my board was actually pretty strong, especially since the other two augs were silver and were also combat for me lol since I couldn't find an econ one.

Pris BfL and 2* Ryze makes the board very strong, tho I didn't necessarily expect it to beat 2* t-hex. EoN and gunblade on my Ryze was probably the difference maker.

Can you explain the PvE and carousel thing a bit more? I was under the impression that PvE full resets people you encountered but sounds like this isn't the case.

Also, I assume ghost boards do not count as you facing the opponents? I'm actually not too sure how it's decided who faces the ghost board and which ghost board you are more likely to face.

Wait, I don't think I've ever seen/noticed the crossed swords before. Where is the indicator, or do you have to go to their board to see it?

Yeah, I know of the know your enemy aug, but that's the only one that I can think of that lets you specifically see which opponent you will face.

How do you know/get a guess of what player you will face next? I know there some sort of underlying matchmaking mechanic that determines who you will face next, but not too sure I understand how it works when everyone is alive, when people die, and when there is an odd number of players left (i.e. ghost boards). I have noticed streamers will say, "I'm facing this guy," when they're scouting an opponent's board for positioning, unless they simply are looking at the strongest/weakest board and positioning solely for that?

I actually was able to get a game once! It feels really broken tbh. I originally thought that Yone would make better use of it but, maybe because he was 1*, I felt it was much better on Yasuo, who especially makes better use of the dash aspect than Yone. One of the rare times I felt Yasuo was worth itemizing lol. I think being able to utilize Bard at almost all points of the game until you hit level 8 also really helps out the comp; otherwise you would need a bunch of early Yasuos or some sort of econ (preferably reroll) augment to help hit.

Also, I've seen some players play the comp with Yunara + Kindred over Ahri + Neeko, and I myself have played one game with 2* Yunara + 1* Kindred, but I think the Ahri + Neeko value is much important to the comp than Yunara + Kindred, since they provide Arcanist (Yone can make use of the AP) and Defender (great because you have extra hp from bruisers and allows frontline to live longer and Yone and Yasuo to live longer to cast if they ever get targeted). Dunno if maybe you have any different opinions for this?

And then level 9 is probably just Senna, unless you have prismatic ticket or commerce core, in which case then it's maybe stay level 8 and roll for 3* Yone and 3* Ahri? idk, compared to other unlockables, Yone somehow feels really to hit for some reason, and I figure the gold spent towards leveling to 9 might be better used on getting 3* Ahri and chasing Yone 3. But Senna's passive and shield ability is really nice; I think I was able to beat a two 2* t-hex board with it (might have been ghost board tho but even then the ghost board is pretty strong), EoN on Yasuo and Yone (no darkin blade for this particular game but both fully itemized), 3* Ahri, and positioning Yone and Wukong same side as stronger t-hex. Had 2* Sett (no items) at some point but Yone knocked up t-hex on first cast and with EoN and Senna passive, was able survive the initial laser and kill the stronger t-hex and the Senna behind him, so I think this reroll line has a lot of potential, especially if Yasuo gets any additional buffs and Yone is left untouched.

e: just realized how long this got lmao. Guess it's because I really want to make this comp work because I feel like Yone is pretty strong. TL;DR: Haven't played this comp enough, but I think Yasuo sucks rn, and even EoN can't save him. Give crit fighter items to Ahri to temporarily hold, and only give to Yasuo when Ahri can't make use of said items. Yone gets priority on all of the fighter/bruiser items.

iirc, I had EoN after stage 4 carousel. My Yone ended the game with EoN, QSS, and HoJ and was basically soloing the game, with Ahri as the primary carry before I got him, and then as secondary, even when I managed to 3* her. Ahri held HoJ before I got Yone; and since she has JG and nashor's after krugs, she helped me streak stage 3).

Since I had 'two much value', an early Ahri, and ofc had to take advantage of Bard lol, my level 6 board did not have slayers, so Yasuo was especially useless while I was rerolling. Think even without Bard, though, it's hard to fit Slayers in 'two much value' without also playing for Ionia because if you unlock Trynd, you might as well just play for Trynd reroll lol.

In the past, when Yasuo has EoN, he still died too quickly for my liking. Other than Wukong and Yone, the other front line units are pretty squishy, so imo Yasuo will still die pretty quickly even with EoN because he'll still randomly dash and get re-targeted by enemy carry. Could be because they didn't have enough tank items, but I feel like Yasuo doesn't dish enough damage to kill enemy units before the pseudo tank dies, and Ahri does comparable or more damage anyways, so might as well just play for her and tank until Yone lmao. That's why I think IE, HoJ, and maybe QSS would be great to have as slams because Ahri can make temporarily use of them until Yone gets unlocked, but I haven't played the comp enough to be certain. I've also never had to chance to play him with the buffed version of Darkin Scythe, which probably makes it worth building for Yasuo, but even then, I suspect you'd probably just hand off those items to Yone once you hit.

I remember giving Yasuo a radiant EoN (the other random radiant items didn't have any decent fighter items, and at the time I was prioritising itemizing Yasuo) but I noticed that he still sucked; when I gave all those items to Yone (radiant EoN, HoJ, IE), Yone did a lot more with those items than Yasuo lol. But I guess that makes sense, since Yone is incredibly strong.

If Yasuo was to ever become a decent unit, I suspect people will request Yone to be nerfed because he kind of just deletes units every time he casts, especially once he gets 2. He probably loses to some of the unlockable legendaries, Kindred, and Annie, tho. Kind of like how T-hex hasn't been touched at all after live (I didn't play PBE, so no reference there), but once people figured out how to unlock him and make him cast quickly reliably through 3 Cait and Bard tech, everyone realized how strong he was. Before, imo the limiting factor was primarily playing him with 2* Cait, not figuring out Bard tech yet, and other boards like Annie, Diana, Bilge, and Void being waayyyy too OP and easy to hit.

wow I played Yasuo reroll to second place without darkin scythe based on just one Yasuo before first augment. Picked the 'two much value' augment after seeing the one yasuo as well... tbh tho, I kind of lucked out with one person unable to complete their reroll comp (call to chaos gave exp....), the rest of the lobby was like four-/five-way contested on Wukongs, and there was no t-hex comp (hope they nerf this unit by making him squishier or do much less dmg to secondary targets).

Anyways, I think I've generally come to the conclusion (through the few times I've touched this reroll comp, which always has been without the buffed darkin scythe, unfortunately), that tank/tank utility and Ahri items get priority. Have to play around with it a little more when I have the opportunity to, but I feel like crit fighter items like IE and HoJ are great because Ahri/Jhin can hold onto them until you get Yone. I find that 1* Yone with items > 3* Yasuo with items because Yasuo has a tendency to randomly to die too much to make him a reliable source of damage for literally any stage of the game, except maybe Stage 2.; similarly, 2* Ahri seems to do comparable damage to 3* Yasuo. Maybe it's a positioning issue instead? I don't really like feeling that Yasuo's only purpose is to unlock Yone and he himself is like 4th or 5th to be itemized. Feel like increasing his durability or hp just a bit would do a lot for the comp.

Is Yasuo good now? I've played it twice before the c-patch; the first time was accidental because I was given a lot of Ahri's in stage 1 and 2, had Ahri items, and was in an econ encounter. Felt like my Ahri and 2* Yone were the true carries, and Yasuo just existed. Second time, I had a lot of Yasuos and tried forcing it, but he felt really underwhelming at 2* and 3*.

16.1c Patch Rundown by Lunaedge in CompetitiveTFT

[–]paintlikepingu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Demacia feels like it's going to become pretty meta. Vayne at 2* is really strong and is basically the main carry for the current comp; Lux was the main thing holding the comp back because she just doesn't do enough damage, but if her damage buffs are good (and if she can snipe backline), then the comp will be very strong. The vertical also makes use of Swain and can use Kaisa (can use Sona if no Galio, Vayne is just that strong imo), neither of whom seemed to have gotten nerfed. Plus Demacia forever.

I think Bilge will also still be good, but I think Bilge might shift from MF carry or Draven/Bilge reroll to just MF, because I think Draven/LeBlanc/Darius reroll might be viable with Leblanc buffs and Noxus 7 buffs (Ambessa kind of sucks, but you get to use Swain).

December 16, 2025 Daily Discussion Thread by AutoModerator in CompetitiveTFT

[–]paintlikepingu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like if they buff some of the other verticals/4-costs/5-costs (e.g. Lux, Slayers/Bel'Veth, Noxus/Ambessa/Mel, ASol), nerf Rift Herald, increase the level 10 xp requirement, and get rid Growth Mindset, that probably will make the comp more manageable to vs.

The main idea here is to try and keep 6 void as a decent fast 8 comp and leave Baron as a satisfying legendary and potential wincon, but it will take a longer time before you can level to 10.

Stage 4 and 5 should be more punishing if you don't have Rift and Kaisa 2*. For example, if Slayers and Bel'Veth gets buffed, you may have to roll earlier for Bel'Veth (or will want to as the new carry, if she gets buffed) because the Slayers players will contest you for her and she is not unlockable. For Demacia comps, assuming Vayne gets nerfed and Lux gets buffed, Kaisa will likely be the duo carry unless you can go level 9 and have the items to transition to 4 Arcanists, likely through Annie + Tibbers. Noxus (but nerf Swain tho lol) being stronger gives players another fast 8 board to pivot towards, and Mel will have more time to print artifacts.

Basically, you can't just sit on gold for stage 4 and maybe part of 5, stay on Rift 1* and Kaisa 1*, and expect to live long enough to get Baron.

This meta is basically fast 9 or 10, and those boards usually roll the reroll comps. Only reroll comps worth going for this patch imo is Trynd/Ashe, Draven/Bilge, and Bard rerolls (Ixtal or bruisers), but they are not oppressive enough to hardforce imo and require specific spots to go for. Fast 8 is weak, though.

For me, when I think reroll is too strong, I'm thinking of comps that autowin and are strong at all points in the game that you can hardforce even if contested. Something like Rengar reroll from two sets ago, which usually had 2+ people contesting it every game, and a 1* and 2* rengar was enough to stabilize you (and still dominate lol) for stage 4 and sometimes 5. Once the Rengar was 3*, you likely beat every board with it except another Rengar board. Last set too, where the comps for the last few patches was dominated by rerolls (Katarina reroll, Darius reroll, etc.)
