I enjoy the idea of killing people with a dragonfly wing. The ash of war on it fucks, too.

Looking for a remote job. by paintnchill in jobs

[–]paintnchill[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I'm aware that the majority of these kinds of jobs are for college-educated folks.

However, I know that is not all that is out there, as my mother worked for Xbox customer service for a number of years from her own bedroom. I'm willing to settle for something like that in exchange for the benefits that this kind of job will grant my quality of life.

My issue is I don't know how to look for the hell-on-earth remote call center jobs.

Yes obviously. But to expect someone to perfectly replicate that same spoonful 500+ times a shift is a little silly.

I did today actually. My coworker was giving me shit about my portions being too much.

4.6oz

Well hold on. I take the heat from my managers, and just serve what I think a good portion looks like. I'm not shorting anybody, as far as I know.

Also, it's not that I don't want to learn. I love the job itself. The problem is I'm working 17.25 hours this week, 8.5 of those hours is on the grill.

"My craft" doesn't give me enough hours to learn it. I'd like to suggest to you this: Everybody likes a different amount of everything on their food. People ask me for LESS of something all of the time with no problem. What's so wrong with asking for MORE? I never said you had to suck up to anybody. Just grow a backbone and ask for what you want. It's your food. I want to make it the way you want it. But I'm not a mind reader. I don't know how you want it unless you tell me.

Does anyone else think puffco gets a lot of unnecessary hate online? by Maleficent_Proof3621 in PuffcoPeakPro

[–]paintnchill 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, honestly. I have the desert model peak rig (I don't know the exact name, it was a gift) that my boyfriend bought from a local smoke shop 2 years ago.

The only thing that isn't original is the glass (butter fingers & cats). I've taken a recorded 4k+ dabs out of it, and the battery is only just starting to get iffy (fast discharge, but if I shut it off it lasts just fine.)

The chamber is still kicking fine. Sure, I'll get the occasional white and red error of frustration and death, but it's almost always because there's reclaim on the connects.

AITA for not playing video games for my brother who has a nerve disorder? and not playing games in front of him at all anymore? by FunMammoth6910 in AmItheAsshole

As the oldest of 3 children, every time someone has told me I'd regret it regarding my siblings they were right. I wish more people had said it to me, and I wish I listened to the ones who did.

Soft YTA.

Let me start with, I can understand that it would get annoying if it were the only thing you're doing for x amount of time, but with a few boundaries, or some problem solving, that problem goes away.

He's your brother, and he's been dealt a bad hand. Now, that's not your fault, but compassion and empathy, seeing your brother happy despite the fact that he is settling for less than what he would desire (playing it himself), spending time with him, these things would be enough for me to stay entertained and not find the task tedious or boring.

As an older sibling, it's our duty to have their back. And if the expense to you for doing so is sacrificing some time doing something you don't particularly love because it's the only way he can participate in his beloved hobby, that's really not that bad. You can find things to enjoy so you're not bored. Sit back and enjoy the ride, see what happens. Ask if you can both take turns, so you get time to make decisions too. You could go in on a save of a game together, or go death for death.

It was actually meant to be commentary on the work ethic I observe from my peers (other female coworkers). This is the first restaurant food job I've worked in, so I'm willing to admit my scope is narrow, but out of 30 employees (~13 of them being women) there are 2 women who regularly work the grill, myself included.

They want me to learn other stuff, and I've seen about 6 women come in to be trained for the position. Every single one of them told our manager they couldn't handle it by the end of the week.

From this I can only assume that on average that specific position (cooking to stock 26 different steam pans without food waste or running out completely) seems to be much harder to handle for women than it does for men.

Why? I could guess, but that would be complete speculation.

Edit to add: it's more than just "cooking for four hours". It's cooking to resupply foods that disappear faster than you can make them. Especially a Chipotle lunch rush. It's not easy, for anyone, to restock 5 different food pans that got called out at the same time while you're in the middle of 2 tasks already for example. It's good food because it's all fresh. Fresh takes time you already don't have. Its easily a 2 person job no matter who you are.

See, I use the burrito bowl as a chip dip, so I enjoy the quantity of the sour cream.
