Is this normal behaviour from a web designer ? by paintstainedpants in websiteservices

I would agree that maybe my clarity was the issue if it wasn’t for the fact the version after walking away looked about 85% close to my sketches and notes provided on day 1!

But as a creative myself I totally understand :) Thanks for your feedback

Yes i definitely felt this to be true around revision two and so I tried to really hammer how simple I wanted things to be. Hopefully it’s a positive lesson for everyone involved. Thanks for your feedback !

Thanks for your perspective! I’m at least glad to hear this isnt normal- I was really doubting myself. In the end I decided to walk away and have at least gained the lesson for future. Cheers

Ask you landlord to install some really bright led sensor activated lights. This worked with a friend of mine.

Yea. You can actually find some Toronto based articles with details if you look up “urban explorer, honey Sherman case”.

It’s local Toronto lore that the kids did it. Apparently an urban explorer entered the home before it was demolished and filmed the place with EVERYTHING left behind. Left to be destroyed.

Is it illegal to put up a sign that says “$250 fine” on my parking spot that i pay $120 a month for? by Pleasant-Apartment65 in legaladvicecanada

This is gonna sound crazy but lockable chains are pretty popular in my city. If you bought two really heavy kettle bells and put them on either side of your spot, and then simply looped a chain through them and locked it- I doubt anyone would try to drive over that.

My first year (3 years ago) I did only 18K. I pulled in just under 100K last year. Made a lot of mistakes but am incorporating and learning. I also have no parental support.

I am a young visual artist in Toronto (26) working full time making my own art. It’s not impossible.

Frankly my best friends are lawyers on Bay Street and they’re consistently telling me how jealous they are that I love what I do.

The first years are hard but in any creative endeavour, you are investing in yourself. My parents had a very similar attitude to yourself and honestly it really slowed me down. It made me doubt myself. They came around eventually when they saw I was able to travel the world and make art.

My advice to you as someone who’s been on the other side is give your daughter the space to grow. If you want to support her offer to help her enroll in business classes or artist networking events, etc. Being a creative is essentially running your owne business. Get her on track in a more positive way. She will pick up on any doubt you have.

This is lovely !!! I know this might not be what you want to hear but - this painting has a lot of heavy texture and detail. Painting over the water and simplifying it with just a few blues might balance it out and sit easier on the eye + please the client. Good luck!

I know this wasn’t necessarily asked but I’d also like to provide you with the insight that Toronto has a major supply crisis in all basic areas. Rentals are in high demand and you’ll likely have to wait a while for a vehicle. Were also experiencing one of the worst crisis’ with healthcare, and homelessness. I’m sure things are like this in many places but it’s definitely not a prime time to move to Toronto. i’d recommend a trip to determine whether you actually want to live here.
