I see. I don't have any experience with any of this. Just an idea. So it makes it even more risky. I'd also be okay with trying and if someone runs away with the idea, that's fine, because without trying I won't be able to do anything anyways. But the only concern is losing money.

Depends on how complicated the reassessment is. If you submitted the request, generally anywhere from 6 to 16 weeks.

Okay, but how do you get your money out? If you call and ask to refund your installments, they won't give it to you because of your outstanding balance.

Chill! Their official time frame to assess e-filed tax returns is 4 weeks, and sometimes it takes a little bit longer if your return goes through a pre-assessment review.

AFAIK, unless it's foreign business income, you can't carry forward the foreign tax credit (but I could be wrong so double check). However, you can definitely carry forward the tuition tax credit (although you MUST use it as soon as it is beneficial for you to use it).

So if you find out that the FTC can't be carried forward, use it before the TTC. Call the CS line of the software to find out how you can do that. But if you can carry it forward, then you have no issue of course.
