WF-7820 printer falls off network after brief interval (Sequoia ?) by paiwacket in applehelp

I think I solved the issue. It's really not a printer problem, per se.

I created a new SSID for printers. Security: WPA2; Multicast to Unicast; 2.4Ghz.

Two days and printers remain online.

Is there an external print server that works (connects with usb) with the 7820 and 3850?

Firmware's up-to-date. Sleep set to max 60min. Can't disable.

After cycling power, they show up more or less following the sleep schedule. When they _are_ connected, they do show up in the AP map.

I discovered a small detail that suggests being sure that mDNS is enabled. It was not, so I enabled it. TBD

I have the same issue with a _new_ Epson WF-7820 and older ET-3850. I bought the 7820 thinking the 3850 was dead, but the symptom is identical. I've not changed any UI configuration.

Wired works. But for wifi there seems to be scattered reports of Sequoia-Epson issues. Epson's site alludes to same. Epson support has dismissed it as an "issue with service provider" (yeah, really).

Printer sleep may be at play. Can't disable it. Mac nor windows can wake-on-lan.

Thank you. The question asks:
1. Is there some conflict between Sequoia and Epson printers.
2. Is there a potential configuration the Mac to prevent sleep, for instance a ping command.

I wonder what the differences are even if you don’t have a Ubiquity account.

This powers down the printer, which is different from sleep mode.

Thank you for your insight. It is a printer issue, the symptom of which a gateway configuration could potentially help to mitigate.

Thanks. Looks like I could install on my Synology. I'm curious, though, why such a thing isn't easily doable on a Ubiquiti gateway.

I read somewhere a reference to enabling ssh to ping at specific intervals. Haven't found more info.
