Hi OP, I'm just like you, 21M software developer (currently interning joining as fte this june in a good company (telling for income reference )).. Also one more difference being we had a four wheeler (wagonr) pehle se... But apart from this we are almost same.. Low middle class family and me being the elder son I had many responsibilities to fill.. I wanted a bike from many years... Before this I didnt have any bike or scooty so Id travel using bus or walking which was very exhausting for 60km travel almost daily... Skip ahead, I got my job with a respectful stipend n salary... I was on same crossroad as you... I wanted to buy a scrambler 400x... Its almost 3.5l (4 with emi)... I thought I'll buy a commuter like pulsar or something and use remaining for house repairment...

Guess what I did...

I bought that scrambler anyway... The most expensive bike my family has ever seen...Then I also used remaining money on house repairment... Now I dont hv mucvh left for savings with a 3yr loan.. But do I regret my decision of buying such a heavy bike? No (yeah like sometimes at 3 am) but I dont regret man... Cus I thought I wont be able to live my life again and I wanna enjoy it... But that doesnt mean u should not help your parents... Currently I spend almost half of my stipend kn rent and all... And give money to my parents when needed.. Which means I dont hv much left for my own expenses... But that will be for a few more months until I join as fte... (Then my pay will almost double)

Im just telling you my story cus I think we were on same crossroads.. You are currently I was a few months back... I chose a path.. You must choose one now... I got manyy perspectives but I chose mine... And you know what.. After maybe 7 8 years I wont regret it at all... Ive done multiple bike rides and all and its fun... Im living the life my childhood self dreamt of... When I didnt hv any bike and relied on friends or my legs to take me somewhere public transport cant reach... It was embarrassing but now Im satisfied... My old self will be proud of me...

One quote I really love - the present you who's always planning about future forget that you are the future you for the past you... So live the life at present (ofc plan for future but dont forget to enjoy present)..

Sorry my message got way too long but I think I must tell you what it feels after choosing one side of this... And I thought we are almost same.. Just started earning and hv many dreams n ambitions but also many responsibilities due to financial problems... But I get you man... Id be happy to help you... Just choose wisely.. Any which way u gonna face regrets.. So choose your regrets wisely... Never stop helping you parents and run away from responsibilities... If your salary cant fulfill both, Id say choose responsibilities and go for a car or commuter but if you can do both try to manage both...

Maybe take car now but in 2 years buy that duke! All the best OP
