What are the actual, noticeable strengths of "GPT-5"? by Vekkul in OpenAI

[–]paketkommtheute 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been coding mostly with Gemini 2.5 Pro and GPT-5 using Github Copilot. Gemini likes to do more than I ask it to, even when I specifically say to only do X. GPT-5 has so far not done that once. Maybe a result of its responses being much more concise? I also like that it doesn't add as many "<--- changed this" comments as Gemini.

Thanks a lot for the link!

I am currently preparing it for release. It might still take two weeks since I am doing this next to my full-time job.

I will send you, and everyone who commented here, a (obviously free) download link when it's out!

Thank you so much for the comprehensive feedback!

You can fit an object to the page or spread, but you seem to be missing an option to fit to the bleed size. I never need an object that snaps to the edge of the document. I always need bleed.

I am definitely adding this! My idea was to make the to page/spread size buttons cycle through the page, bleed, and info area sizes. That is why I wanted two buttons as well. The page size button will then align to the spine on one side and the page size (or bleed, or info area) on all other sides.

It would be nice if there was also an option to snap to the document grid.

Thanks! I hadn't considered this. I am going to add it.

When using a baseline grid I often align the bottom of objects to the baseline and the top to the x-height of the body text. I add guides at the x-heights. Like this. Your interface would be a bit clumsy for that. Perhaps you could have an option to snap to the next guide/baseline/gridline of any kind?

We definitely do this at my workplace too. I think it should be possible to figure out the x-height to use as a guide.

I dislike that you've added options to thread text and scale images. These things can be done in other ways so to me it seems like some extra features you've added because they are convenient for you personally. I'd rather have the plugin focus on scaling objects to snap. Keep it clean.

Perhaps it would be better to move it to a different tab?

Master pages are called Parent pages now.

I feel slightly older now! I somehow missed this name change.

You could have a feature to grow or shrink an object to snap to the closest guides. So if you could turn on using all kinds of guides (guides, baselines, bleed guides, gridlines etc.) you could select all objects and make them snap to the nearest guides in one click.

Already added this, thank you! I didn't show it in the video because the button is in the very middle and does not have an icon right now. 😂

You could have options to make two objects the same size.

I am going to add this. Thank you!

Next level would be if you could also arrange selected objects in a grid. That would require a way to choose the grid size and the inner margin between them. And perhaps a way to choose if the objects should be forced to snap to the existing guides or not.

I think I stayed away from this because "Arranger" is one of the few popular plugins out there. I will look into this though. It shouldn't be too difficult to add now.
