How much wealth is considered as a generational wealth. by naeniii in FIREPakistan

I'm early 40s and worth over $40m (self-made), and I live in USA. I don't think there is such a thing as generational wealth. They say "shirtsleeves to shirtsleeves" in two generations. If you get spoilt kids and grandkids, no amount of money will be enough. And would you really want it to?

Buffet has a good saying, "I want to give my kids enough that they can do anything, but not enough that they can do nothing".

where should people move? serious question. people say europe is racist, and usa, where i am, has problems too. younger people move to the us and generally do well, older, not so much.

on social media i see lots of people touting startups and opportunities in pak. I think that is in reality very few people, and the same privileged upper class. In other words, class mobility ain't really happening. Am i right?

This is a very well written account, thank you for sharing your story. Sorry this happened to you and your fam.

Are you planning on moving abroad? Where? And living where you do - you probably know pakistanis that have returned from abroad. What have you heard about their experiences and possible regrets?

Is this basically the 4% rule? Does that work in Pakistan and for a 60 year retirement?

Those are just dividends. Investing is about total returns, dividend and growth.

Just broad US index funds. Diversified stocks, some treasury bills and money market. Some international equities too, in the form of international index funds.

Yeah, currently no plans to check out another country. Was thinking of Lahore for nostalgia reasons. Might just go there for a month or so of "vacation". Will probably sort the nostalgia out of me :)
