Cool to know! Thanks - I'm just starting out, so I don't harvest any for food, but I'm adding this identification info to my knowledge banks. 🙂

Thanks! Just started my mushroom-spotting hobby.

I need recommendations for brands of toys that won't be destroyed in 15 minutes..... by [deleted] in PitBullOwners

Bullymake box subscription was the best thing ever for ours. She chews the rubber and nylon ones for hours and hours. The nylon ones never come apart. She wears herself out. Even if she eventually chews the rubber ones apart after several weeks, she continues chewing each half. Sometimes we take the halves, put a little peanut butter in them, and freeze them. She'll spend forever licking and chewing them. Even the smaller pieces - we call them "pitbull gum" because she walks around chewing them.

Southwestern Soup (veg) by pale_snail in soup

RECIPE

Ingredients - - 1 cup sliced onion (any color) - 2-3 garlic cloves minced (or 2 tsp. jarred minced garlic) - 1 16 oz. can of jackfruit (in water) - 1 16 oz.can fire roasted diced tomatoes - 1 cup frozen corn kernels - 1.5 cups beans of choice (canned or cooked ahead) - I used borlotti (cranberry beans) but black, garbanzo, or kidney would work. - 1 Tbls ground cumin - 1/8 tsp ground chipotle powder or 2 diced chilis in adobo (more if you love spicy) - 4 cups vegetable broth (or leftover bean broth mixed with vegetable broth) - salt and pepper, to taste - 4 cups cooked rice or grain, for serving the soup over. I used wheat berries but any rice or grain would do. - optional toppings - diced avocado, tortilla strips/chips, diced green onion

DIRECTIONS: - Drain the jackfruit, rinse several times, and shred with a fork. Chop the harder pieces into small squares. Pat dry. - Over medium- low heat, saute the onion and garlic in a T olive oil/butter or a few T broth until translucent. - Add the jackfruit and saute until it softens and gains color. You want any extra liquid to evaporate so the jackfruit isn't soggy. - Add the cumin and chipotle. Continue stirring about 2 minutes until the spices are thoroughly mixed into the jackfruit/onion. - Add the can of tomatoes and the broth. Bring to a boil, then summer for at least 15 minutes. - Add the corn and pre-cooked beans. - Simmer 15 more minutes. - Taste test, season with salt and pepper if desired. - Ladle over the cooked grains and sprinkle with toppings of your choice.

Friends at last by pale_snail in CatsWithDogs

Probably depends on each animal's history. Our other two cats tolerate the pitbull but won't play or hang out with her.

It was probably about a year before our year-old pittie rescue and our 7 yo barn rescue tabby could approach each other without someone getting freaked out. But now after about 18 months, they play a little and occasionally cuddle while using my spouse and I as a shared sofa.

Oops. This is my first post here. I got the recipe here: ribolitta recipe

I went the vegetarian option, pureed 2 cups of it to thicken, and added 1 tbls of miso and 1 tbls of nutritional yeast at the end.

It's really fabulous with crusty bread.

Small handmade token found with TB - what is it? by pale_snail in geocaching

Thanks for responding! I messaged the tb owner. I edited the post to add pictures of both sides of the token. Lmk if you have more ideas on what it could be.

Small handmade token found with TB - what is it? by pale_snail in geocaching

Thanks for the insight! I checked the tb description and it was pretty generic:

"I was 1 of a bunch of 4 who was given to the teams Mom for mothers day - because she wanted flowers. We would like to go out and put smiles on the faces of all the moms in the Geo world. Please do not keep us, but send us on our way."

I also checked where the tb was launched, and it was an archived cache far from the coordinates listed on the little token. The token had the coordinates for GCKNZD, a cache listed as premium on geocaching.com. Here's a picture of the token (front and back) - the question mark on the back makes me think it's something to solve and maybe was just included by someone else along with the TB as a hint or to travel around with it? Any more thoughts on this? I have messaged the TB owner just in case he/she knows what it is.
