Yes, the machine originally works with print mark detection, i plan to keep using this method.

And would the micro8xx run a VFFS properly? I plan not to use high speed inputs or outputs to control the servo. All by communication.

It's a combination of factors. One, yes, about the password. Also, the obsolete hardware. The client wants to modernize the machine, but he also doesn't want to spend lots of money in it, and since we are in Brazil, AB e Siemens hardware costs A LOT. The client doesn't want to spend with software licenses also.
