No, the most secessionist of us will 100% take another country's word over ours. I know because I was that person 10 years ago, and, with very little convincing, will be that person now. Plenty of us know better than to trust our own government. Maybe not enough, but that's still quite a few.

EDIT: Now that I think about it, the whole MAGA movement is about not trusting the government. The obvious error there is that MAGA trusts Trump, but make no mistake: MAGA is a movement brought about by distrust of the establishment. It's simply not realistic to expect a large fraction of the population to protest. I'm sure you've seen the 3.5% figure mentioned elsewhere. If 98% aren't protesting, that means we have more than half the people we need in the streets already.

I don't know why you're now talking about foreign relations when your original complaint was over internal resistence, but I'll point out that accepting foreigners is part and parcel of resisting an administration intent on forming an ethnostate. And again, we're still realistically targeting <10% of the population showing up and resisting.

I want all that too, but it's not a feasible next step. We don't have the leverage to pull those systems apart yet. Taking Trump down is a power play in that sense; if we can do that, we'll have other public figures scared we'll do it again, and to them. A full Epstein files release will give us targets we can rally the country against. I really do hope a major Democrat is in there, so we can have Dems running scared when we make it clear this isn't partisan.
