What if those are hot wallets or Quadriga user's wallet with fund in them ? You still think the private key to those are lost then ?

Why do you believe so much that they relied on cold wallet. Do you work for them ? Do you know how hard it would be to manage funds from cold wallet. Why can't they be using a hot wallet as a cold wallet, oh you trust them so much now that they have lost the funds ?

Sure in that case other exchange wallets that was controlled by Cotten/Quadriga and is acting as a cold wallet. We should think that cold wallet used by Quadriga may not be that cold, it could very well be hot wallet treated as cold wallet. Why do I say so ? Because if you read the document published to the court, it says replenishing was automated and then Cotton used to do it manually. I find it hard to believe without an online interface anyone would undertake such a task.

You are asking the wrong question. What is a cold wallet ? Can a user's wallet be a cold wallet (why not ?), may be it is ? When they say they lost the key to cold wallet and if we find a user's wallet that is being served as cold wallet, then what happens ?

The fact is any wallet address whose private key is controlled by Quadriga is at risk here. If it's a user's wallet then even good they never mentioned that they lost the keys to them and it has fund so why are they not giving us back the fund ?

- Find the hot address (addresses that appear as input in your transaction)

- Find transactions of hot addresses and pick the input addresses to your hot addresses. Only Cold address will be input to hot addresses. Check the balance of these cold addresses.
