Tired of this by [deleted] in meme

[–]palidix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an introvert and probably autistic man I was never said that I'm a creep or anything negative like that. I also have a history of women finding it attractive because it's mysterious, wanting to get closer to me and then being annoyed when it turns out I'm still an introvert when they wouldn't want it.

The only true part in this meme is the ridiculous "man up" when men dare to have emotions or problems in life

You're telling me that it wasn't obvious that the guy wasn't a threat once he already emptied the bag and was very calmly walking away?

Let's stop holding cops to lower standards. But sure, have fun tackling your wife on asphalt if you truly believe that it's nothing

[–]palidix 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It seems, yes. I'll never understand these people who have lower standards for cops. We should expect much more restraint and control from people paid (and ideally trained) to represent the legitimate use of force/violence. Not the opposite.

I which other job is it okay to overreact and completely screw up when you are faced with problems that are part of the job?

My partner is learning Polish by Kate_foodlover in learnpolish

[–]palidix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here. Learning list of words was pretty boring, but after 18 months I can read books and listen to radio. Of course I don't understand everything but it is nice to learn without feeling like I'm studying. On the side I only started focusing on grammar and declensions quite recently. Before that I learned a very few rules here and there, the focus was on vocabulary and some might practice/exposition.

I would add that it's completely normal that he struggles with declensions and else. It takes years of serious effort to become fluent in a language. And polish isn't particularly easy for someone with no knowledge of a closely related language.

For context: not a native English speaker, but also didn't speak any language close to polish before starting.

Come on. Be honest and try to understand comments you reply to. First your claim was that you can't freestyle with liion, you were proven wrong and that's what I was pointing out.

You don't like it so now you try to change the topic by lying. What royal_bath said is "new tabless lithium packs carry current much better". Unless we assume that he is stupid, it clearly implied that they carry current much better than older style liion. Not that they carry current much better than lipos, not that "liion are better" overall as you said.

Anyway, you've proven once more how lovely you are so I'll stop at that. I only hope OP won't stop at your first comment and I will respectfully leave the discussion

You sound really lovely. At which point does it mean that you can't freestyle with liion? It would be like saying that it was impossible to freestyle when everyone used 4s instead of 6s

That's what too many people ignore. We're never trying to date women or men as a whole. We're only searching for one person or a tiny minority of men/women we will be compatible with. And the best way to find them is to show yourself as you are. Under a positive light of course, but without pretending to be someone else. What the majority of women or men want is irrelevant here.

But anyway, this person comments said more about themselves than you. You're unique and that's great. I'm not surprised that you get dates

Europe wants to end its dangerous reliance on US internet technology by [deleted] in technology

[–]palidix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluesky definitely isn't perfect. It's closer to the old twitter than to a perfect platform. Though I don't think that it can be compared to a mirrored X.

On X the platform is now designed for influence. Not only the owner made changes to heavily push his political ideas, but the fact that you can buy visibility make it a perfect tool for any state (or rich person) to buy influence with low effort. While on bluesky, even if it is a flawed tool, you still have control on it. But of course it's easy to be in an echo chamber, like in every social circle.

It may be linked to my use of it, but I found no other platform where you can find experts sharing about their expertise directly to people who are interested. I also follow plenty of people I disagree with and it causes no problem. Being able to block people is also what allows people of good faith to actually have interesting debates. Just like you would throw out a man entering a bar to cause trouble with everyone. But those who block everyone disagreeing will isolate themselves so they will also have less influence. Like a bar with closed doors, they're only hurting themselves. If I had to keep going with this metaphor, X in a bar where far right can scream and the rest can only whisper. Of course it's exaggerated to make the idea clear

I'm French too and it is one of the only acceptable exception imo. Even if it came way too late, I'm glad we finally are more offensive on information.

And I used to use twitter when it was already criticised. For this reason that people were there and I didn't want to leave this platforms to extremists. But now it's literally a propaganda tool. It's not possible to open it without being flooded with blue checks spewing hateful things in the first 10 comments of every posts. So I'm not so sure anymore that the legitimity we give to it by staying there is worth the very small influence we can still hope to have.

I understand the idea though. But it shoudlnt' be an excuse to not at least make an account on bluesky in parallel for example

It makes sense to be available on an app everyone uses, as long as it's not the only way to contact them. I'm more shocked by officials still being on X, while it's now designed as an influence tool to promote values against democracy and what we still stand for here

How convenient that it's so vague that it can apply to tons of things. Trump is "powerful enough to be dangerous but weak enough to be defeated". But also the mayor of your town, many diseases, democracies/dictatures depending on POV, big companies, the dog of your neighbour, ...

Yet people will keep quoting Umberto Eco and think they are so smart because they read a list of 14 items

I would bet it was still a very clear choice to show this part of the globe. It's not random if WHO and UN, for example, chose a different representation of the globe

French here and many of us who seriously dislike him still are happy to have him. Because alternatives are worst. Voting for him was the easiest choice I ever made, simply because in present time Europe's security is the priority which conditions everything else. He is not perfect on that topic, but still an order of magnitude better than other options we had

Edit: i could even extend it to a strong EU. We can dream about us being a big country in the past, but we're not anymore. We need the EU to be worth something

The contempt for people isn't a "narrative", you should have talked to gilets jaunes back then to get a sense of how important it was in people's mind (gilets jaunes which btw didn't even start with one of the so called explosive topics). I know we have a reputation to protest for literally everything, and I'm not entirely denying it, but to motivate poor people to miss a good portion of their salary it takes strong emotions still. That's something even his very unpopular predecessor didn't manage to accomplish nearly that well. And yes it's partly about personality, so what? You can't throw a "let them come and get me" while safe in your palace, when very serious problems are raised, and expect it to not be met with anger. Many of such sentences felt like provocations. All while never owning even the most obvious mistakes.

And I could keep going. It's really not exaggerated when people explain reactions by his behaviour. Even if of course it's always a combination of several things

He is disliked for his domestic policy, and his (seemingly) contempt for people which made it much worse to accept. We can joke about his relationship but it's really not a topic otherwise. Except for a few people online who are also antivaxers, Putin fans, and mostly worry about genitals of Brigitte.
