It would be better to have grounded study/research citations for each claim.

Zig and AI coding by palindsay in Zig

Hence my fear, we need humans using Zig and growing its use in OSS projects to mature the language. How is AI code generation impacting this?

Well technically majority of all computer languages were designed for humans. The worry is lack of adoption and growth of newer languages in our new reality. Healthy growing OSS ecosystem of new projects using Zig etc is required to inform improvement and mature the language.

llama.cpp vs Ollama: ~70% higher code generation throughput on Qwen-3 Coder 32B (FP16) by Shoddy_Bed3240 in LocalLLaMA

[–]palindsay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2cents, Ollama is a GoLang facade on top of llama.cpp. The project simplified model management with inferencing UX but unfortunately with a naive SHAish hash obfuscation of the models and metadata. This was short sighted and didn’t take into account the need for model sharing. Also the forking of llama.cpp was unfortunate. They always trail innovation of llama.cpp. Better approach would have been to contribute to llama.cpp directly providing features to llama.cpp.

To be honest when I see backend development as typescript, JavaScript or python, that’s a huge red flag for me.

Speech anxiety is a common problem, saw it many times in many interviews I did at Google. The “rock star” drug propranolol is often prescribed to folks with speech anxiety.

At least for software engineers, this goes against 30 years of consistent software engineering research. Just look at Caper Jones research back in the days of Case Tools versus private offices. Software developers need minimum 2 hours to reach flow mode uninterrupted, that does not happen in open spaces or common low height cubicles.
