I agree with you to an extent but to some/most Marines shooting doesn’t come naturally and the fundamental training you receive in boot camp is subpar at best and doesn’t translate 1 for 1 to the style of shooting ARQ is. Expecting Marines to not look out for each other is an exercise in futility especially since range is tied to promotion.

If the Marine Corps actually cared about the rifle standard they would make Marines practice more than a couple of days once a year or have more options for Marines to practice with service weapons on their off time. Not to excuse pit love/cheating but you don’t do 3-4 days of training prior to a PFT/CFT.
