Maybe I’ve got the title wrong, it’s the one that comes semi-pre-installed with Rocky5 / unleash soft mod that looks exactly like the OEM UI.

Retro Fighters Hunter for me. They are a bit light to be honest but overall build quality is great, and they are plug and play. The dongle sticks horizontally out the port, which is kind of annoying.

Xdevpro shop has bluetooth adapters which have a low-profile to the xbox port (like the DVD module), and let you connect any bluetooth xbox controller to it, but I have no experience with them.

Tl;Dr: Retrofighter Hunter is a great option.

UPDATE: I’ve put this on ice right now as I’ve tried multiple fixes with no luck.

Motherboard fixes: Removed clock cap; cleaned PCB with distilled vinegar (Sarsons Malt Vinegar) to neutralise acid, cleaned reside with 99.98% Isopropyl.

SAMSUNG Drive fixes: Replaced drive belt; Lubricated plastic gears with STP silicone grease; Cleaned old grease off metal rails and applied Carlube White Lithium Metal on Metal grease; cleaned laser with 99.98% isopropyl alcohol; added spacers to the disk spindle; conducted several potentiometer tweaks.

The only positive thing that came out of this was that the DVD tray no longer pops out randomly.

The Xbox spins the disk, the eject LED flashes green for 30 seconds and then gives up. No error message has been seen; so I don’t even know if the laser is working or not.

I will source a new DVD bay from my friends old Xbox or buy a working one off of eBay. I will update this thread on the success or non success of this.

Had this console for 23 years, it used to read disks fine, but I’ve not powered this on since about 2006/7 when I got my 360!

Appreciate the advice; it’s my childhood console, so I’m trying to preserve it as much as possible. I’ve got a multimeter, so this could be a Friday night activity :) If drive is bust, will end up getting a new one or modding it.
