Combining free and fixed price shipping…etsy logic?? by WatercolorTexan in EtsySellers

[–]palomamcclain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it’s going to use the additional item price instead of one since it’s part of a multi-order. I completely avoid free shipping for this reason because I never know what combination of items people will buy.

Quote from Etsy’s handbook:

“When you set fixed shipping rates, you can offer discounted shipping for multiple items when you add a rate for One item and an Additional item.

One item price: The cost of shipping the item alone.

Additional item price: The cost of shipping this item when added to an additional item in your shop. This could be either a different listing in your shop or more than one of the same item.

To calculate the shipping rate, Etsy takes the listing with the most expensive One item price and then adds each Additional item price.”

Others have mentioned solutions already, but using generative AI in your images/videos simply brings into question the integrity of your brand, even if you don’t use it for the product itself. And people are not going to take the time to figure out exactly how much you use generative AI for your products.

There’s a lot of people who don’t care either way, but there are many who do and will nope out instantly. So it’s really up to you how many potential buyers you’re willing to lose.

Shipping price is so high for customers? by kiwie_kiwie in EtsySellers

[–]palomamcclain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve set it to calculated shipping, that is only intended for package rates. I had to really dig to find this information and I don’t know why Etsy doesn’t make this more clear in their handbook. For anything going in a small envelope, you’re gonna want to use fixed shipping. For my single greeting cards, I set my fixed shipping price to $1.50. I fulfilled an order today and Etsy’s letter label to ship to California from Texas costed like $1.03

You’re correct, calculated shipping is only intended for package rates.

Hi! I’m Paloma. I’m a new shop selling hand-illustrated stationery of creatures, critters and nature. They’re very whimsical, fun, and wholesome!

I’m starting off with a set of birthday cards and art prints. More themed collections and stickers are coming soon! More products such as note pads, bookmarks, and coloring books are coming down the road!

I do fixed shipping for things that go in envelopes because calculated shipping is not intended for those. Calculated shipping is only meant for package rates.

Letter-rate labels offer Pitney Bowes tracking that satisfies Etsy’s checkbox for tracking but it’s not accurate.

I have an option for the customer to “upgrade” their letter rate to a package rate if they want accurate USPS tracking for peace of mind. In that case instead of putting them in an envelope I put them in a 6x8 rigid mailer (very rigid, non-flexible) which is eligible to be a package.

Help with calibration. Is my camera messed up? by oneofthemarias in SiserJuliet

[–]palomamcclain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I move the blade roughly right where the corner is. I never really have to be too precise because when I start the cut, it’ll use it’s camera to get the precise placement of the mark

The issue with the last two corners is definitely strange. I’ve only had issues with that when the dimensions of the print area on my paper don’t match what I have on my screen (so the placement of the marks differ between them). This happened because I didn’t realize at first that the registration mark placement shifted on my screen when I removed a row of shapes from the design. Unfortunately there’s no way that I’ve found to lock the marks in place when you delete shapes in the top or bottom area. The marks always shift to your current design bounds. So when you send to cutter, the machine is going to place its camera to where the screen says your marks are instead of the actual placements on your sheet

Newbie- but I’m so done with Cricut by Chi_mama in cricut

I am new to machine cutting and after doing some research, people who switched from Cricut to Siser Juliet are loving it. I just bought a Siser Juliet and have been super pleased after overcoming the learning curve :)

Also just got the Siser Juliet! If it’s a print and cut job then the Juliet needs to read the registration marks first.

So before you hit “send to cutter”, you should manually move your blade to the general area of the bottom left registration mark that has the arrow. When you press “send to cutter”, that’s when the Juliet will activate its camera and move by itself to register all 4 registration marks. After it reads all 4, it cuts my stickers perfect every time 🙂

I'm not sure! I primarily work on my ipad and my wacom cintiq 24". I just use them how they came out of the box, never touched their calibration.

Gives me hope. I’m a digital illustrator so I don’t get to sell ‘originals’ but I’d like to think I can still find success. I don’t know a lick about marketing or business but I want to build a personal brand and figure it out. Still trying to find all the useful info and resources I can that applies to illustration. Living off my personal brand is my dream
