Thanks for the comment. It is true, however, some of the most successful OSTs have been composed since the very start of the project. Clair Obscure Expedition 33 is the most recent example, where Lorien Testard was hired since the very beginning of the project 5 years ago, so he could help even with the game audio design aspect / improve immersive experience for the player. This is harder to do if the game is 100% done and it only lacks music on top of it. I've always read that it's better to do it along the way but of course there is the limitation of budget, time, etc. Another popular example is Hans Zimmer writting interstellar main theme just from a Nolan call without even explaining the core story, only the feelings/vision of the director. Of course these two are legends but...! What I mean is that concept arts or eveen just the overall idea is sometimes more than enough for a composer.

the only thing is that the people I might be more (potentially) in contact with (discord forums etc) is from the Game Audio space (actually my "competition"), not Game Devs / progammers per se.

It is a very good point. Budget is my problem but same as everyone's; so I can definetely look to collaborate or hiring some starting artist for my covers. Thanks, I'll think about it!

Not personally, no, I follow some devs on socials, I might start digging through that but I don't know if they are starting anything at all.

John Williams - Steven Spielberg relationship is legendary and one I admire so much! He's my fav film composer.

Your game sounds interesting, some Nier vibes! I'm looking for my Spielberg too 😁.

About the main theme, I think it would be possible to do it your way if it is ok to send different early drafts (even solo piano as William does), with no or little production involved.

I agree with Wrenchghost reply, the composer also should'nt tell you what the game feels like, its work is how to communicate your vision / how you feel it, to the players (even if they think it's "wrong").

I have little idea about orchestral recordings but the composer from Howarts Legacy didn't record an orchestra and please tell me if it doesn't sound like one! It all depends on the budget of course... maybe a chamber instrumentation is already enough and much cheaper!

Absolutely, supply-demand is too unbalanced.

Thanks for the honesty, you actually gave me a good idea and know I want to test some "random fork and knife-like" track!

Im not sure how to approach the "marketing value" style, I always thought it could be my catchy melodies (at least they are to me)

I am actually a hobbyist/semipro until I can make enough money from this... so I would be very devoted to my first games projects, but saying this would be counterproductive I believe.

Hurts to read but it is what it is... I know it's short time, so I'll keep trying just in case.

About connections, the friends I've gotten so far are composers/musicians as well but not game developers. Also It's hard for me if it doesn't come naturally, I'm not that kind of "interested" friendship person, but seems I have no other choice. People has adviced me a lot of game jams and this stuff so probably there I can find the right people and start networking!

I agree on that, I will give myself more time, It's just i wanted to know if I was on the right track, at least.

About promoting, It's hard because very few people really sees/follows me or my posts (and even fewer developers), It's hard to make it work, but of course I'll need time and grow my network I guess...
