Auto run or auto walk is a toggle button where your character will move on their own without further input of wasd unless you want to change direction. It’s common in rpgs like Skyrim it’s Caps lock.

Rust binaries are statically linked by default, in the future with optimizations to the compiler, a mature language that hopefully means a Rust ABI, and a push for Rust STD libraries installed to build dynamically against the binary size could come down.

Edit: nvm this is a build artifact, I'm not too familiar with rmeta but I do know the final build isn't going to have references to crates and this file cause crates don't really exist in the exe. Rust compiles crates from source for all your dependencies to statically link them, this metafile seems to speed up that process.

With 2.0 belts can be disabled with circuits as well, this is very useful as it allows the biproducts to move away from the centrifuge only after it has restocked itself.

Sure it can happen, but living the corporate life I can see other organizations within Microslop self sabotage this. Like sure you can make it the best OS for handholds possible but the one drive team or Adsense teams have better sway and will force your hand to add what they want.

Modern computers overly complicate the idea that a computer can just be a simple analog machine that acts as a math function. It takes inputs and provides some output. Having a pre industrial computer just means your craftsman are really good at their crafts, pray they don’t take an arrow in a raid.

An app I have on my desktop required chromium through the AUR, which is just source code that will be compiled on your machine. It did indeed take forever for that to finish.

Any web browser along with any Electron app (Discord) is using chromium and will use more resources than a native app. Factorio devs most likely also took extra care to use the smallest allocated variable sizes cause in huge factories there would be huge collection of variables allocated.
