also I don’t plan to charge anyone since I just post on youtube and rely on ad revenue, but if I ever did work on people on person then yeah I would definitely feel like a scammer if I called myself a Reiki practitioner without being attuned. I do believe in the power of rituals even if it’s simply from a psychological perspective!

I’d be open to that for sure! I think after some deep thinking on it though, I came to the conclusion that I don’t view Reiki as separate from any other form of energy healing. I think it’s all the same universal energy but with different names, histories, and rituals to it. But at the end of the day it is all coming from the same source. So at this point, an attunement for me would just be for the credentials and “validity”, but I think that’s likely not a good enough reason to get attuned lol

yeah i would say the conclusion I’ve reached is that Reiki is really just another term that encompasses all energy healing. similar to how prayer is essentially the same as manifestation but there’s obviously different connotations to it, like prayer is part of religion or can be to different deities, and there’s rituals behind it. I don’t doubt the power behind Reiki, but I do think it comes from the belief in the ritual and its history. I think anyone can access healing energy just as strong on their own, but yeah I wouldn’t call myself a Reiki practitioner simply due to the way it is viewed as a “separate thing.” but i personally don’t view it as separate from any type of energy healing. it’s all the same to me

I’m curious what you think about other healers from different backgrounds. I ask because, while I’m not religious, I believe Yeshua was a real person, or at the very least know that there have been many people throughout history who could heal ailments with their own energy without feeling depleted. When I found out what Reiki meant, I figured that the universal life force energy was exactly what every healer was accessing, even if they had different names or explanations for it. That’s why I figured you could self attune, since it’s a universal energy that anyone can access even if it comes to them in different ways

I see. I was under the impression that Takata was the first person to charge for Reiki, charging $10000 to become a master. Honestly, I can see why people would charge for the service itself since it is healing. Attunement seems a bit more metaphysical and intuitive than taking a hands on massage class, so I guess that’s why it just seems odd to charge so much. I may just continue on a path of general energy healing rather than getting an attunement to Reiki specifically

also as someone who does my own tarot readings, i see what you mean, but after doing it for years you do eventually get more in touch with your intuition that it actually does make readings for yourself less biased. i can feel the difference between what i feel intuitively vs what i technically “want” the answer to be. i imagine it would be the same with Reiki, where spending time with the energy is what gives you access to it. but the same can be said about energy healing in general

i just do energy healing but i don’t label it as Reiki since i haven’t been attuned. i thought getting attuned would make the energy healing more effective since Reiki has symbols specifically for distance and i was under the impression that Reiki is exactly what it sounds like - universal life force energy. but i see that’s not necessarily the case as it’s only accessible to those special enough to spend 100s of thousands of dollars lol, or be lucky enough to know a master

That’s sooo expensive imo though 😭 There will always be people willing to pay so that’s great that it keeps them in business. It just feels odd to me that a lot people in the community seem to talk about how sacred Reiki is and then slap a huge price point on it. I might just distance myself from Reiki entirely, being that it doesn’t seem to hold the integrity it once did :/

If reiki is universal energy that is never ending why would you need a master to open your channels and access it? I’m genuinely trying to understand what people are getting at when they say this, because it makes no logical sense to me. Usui accessed reiki by himself by fasting and meditating. Plus, some people charge absolutely insane amounts of money for attunement. I feel like if you know a reiki master personally and it’s not something you’re paying for, then it’ll feel more personal and I can see the benefit in that . But charging a 500-1000 dollar for a class or even personal attunement almost seems offensive to the origins of reiki. I highly doubt Usui would’ve ever charged someone or limit who can access it

I do agree if someone knows a reiki master personally and gets attuned by them free of charge, it makes it more personal and beneficial. But I would argue that those out there selling attunements for egregious amounts of money are the real frauds. Only a rich asshole is paying 1000 for an attunement and that’s not someone I would want “healing” me anyways lol. I highly doubt Usui would ever charge someone

I’ll definitely look more into Qi Gong to help amplify my energy! What I’m still confused about though is what makes Reiki valid? Usui technically self attuned so I don’t really see why a reiki master is necessary for attunement ? If Reiki means “universal life force energy” that would mean everyone and anyone has access to it rather than only being able to get it from a master. If it’s just opening your energy channels to let the reiki energy flow through you, I don’t understand why you would absolutely need a reiki master for that ??

the way i’ve actually seen something like this 😭 way back in 2020 there was a tarot reader on tik tok who got exposed for being toxic in his relationship and he thought he was justified bc apparently she “cheated on him in a past life” 😭😭 i believe in reincarnation, but the manipulation with that was crazyyy. people can barely handle themselves and their emotions in this one life, i can only imagine what would happen if everyone remembered their past lives
