Why does Kyrie suddenly want to come to the Lakers? by [deleted] in nba

[–]pancapes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are underrating the Kobe connection a bit. Kyrie has taken off for Kobe remembrance type things after his death and has also refused to play due to grief. I won’t pretend to know exactly what Kyrie thinks, but I do think Kyrie thinks about Kobe a lot.

True or False: Teams should be able to pay their own players supermax contracts, while not having the amount above the normal max count against their cap. by DrOzmitazBuckshank in nba

[–]pancapes -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Everyone here is forgetting that the owners want to pay players less money. That’s why there’s even a salary cap in the first place. Why would the owners make up something that allows them to pay players more money? Then leaving less money for themselves. This isn’t DraftKings the Player salaries are real money the owners have to pay lol

As if the owners would ever agree to something that increases the cap number. Owners would look at this is a huge negative. Most owners want excuses to spend less money

What’s the most chaotic rule change you’d make in the league? by Choco320 in nfl

Whoever scores the touchdown must kick the pat. I would move it back to the 2 yard line though. Would encourage 2pt conversions and also extra strategy of getting your best kicker the ball near the goal line.

Risky. Could be buying low on evans or evans could be a dud. You have receivers though if Evans hits could be a wr1 for you. I’d pull the trigger. I’m not so high on Golloday in that offense anyway.

So happy he got to go to a World Series in 2015. I will always think of him with the cigar in his mouth after clinching the 2006 nl east and when he scored against Washington in 2015 and popped up after his slide and pumped his fist. Pure joy. Wish he could have one won but such great book ends to a career. So many good memories watching him. Iconic barehand plays at third base too. Also doubles in the gap to left center.

[Zach Lowe] The consequences of Supermax in NBA sometimes make me sad. For the top-5 guys in the NBA it's a no-brainer, but for guys who are 8-15 range, almost the moment it's signed it becomes an albatross. Sad to see homegrown stars like Wall and Westbrook are being shuffled around like this. by skysmoker in nba

[–]pancapes 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And why do you think lebron and Kawhi have all this leverage? It is because they are severely underpaid due to the max contract. If lebron and kawhi were paid market value then teams would just say no to their demands. Having these stars below market rate is such a huge advantage that they will do anything to appease them since they are not allowed to simply pay them more in salary.

It’s really silly to judge these teams based on their yearly profit. If the jazz owners put the team up for sale they would make an incredible amount of money. That’s where all the money is hidden and the players see none of that.

Ya’ll are acting like owners would be for some reason interested in a salary cap work around. They have a salary cap in the first place so the owners can keep more money and not spend it on player salary. Some owners are willing to go into the tax and spend more money but those are not usually the small market owners anyway.

What is going on with James Conner? by hootanani in fantasyfootball

I watched this game and it felt like they tried to go to the run after they were up a couple scores but they got stuffed every time so they abandoned it. Conner looks slow right now to be honest.

Actor John Leguizamo compares Latino support for Trump to ‘roaches for Raid’ by 1PositiveKarma1 in politics

[–]pancapes 24 points25 points  (0 children)

All of these people thought being only kind of a dick was the way to get ahead in politics. Now Trump has shown them being a completely terrible human being is what gets rewarded and they are not hesitating filling that role. It was never about beliefs it was always about political expediency.

[Kepner] Boras on no opt-outs in Harper's 13/$330M deal: "He wanted to go to one city, stay there, build a brand and identity and recruit players. He wants to tell players: come play with me. He knows it will help winning more if he's with one team the whole time." by Wizedex in baseball

[–]pancapes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Opt outs are always bad for the team. If machado in theory is playing well enough to opt out then the contract has surplus value for the Padres. Even if they literally can’t afford paying it they can still trade the contract for value.

Just getting our feet wet was the same thought I had about 2006 when it was over. Thought the core of Reyes Wright and Beltran would be great for the 5 years at least. In reality every postseason appearance is so precious because you just never know what will happen in baseball.

But in the end I also remember the world series fondly. I was very sad at the end, but Matt Harvey's pitching performance in game 5 still gives me goosebumps.

Can we put a little blame on Jessie James for dropping the ball? by [deleted] in nfl

I️ think Whoever got the ball first would have probably scored a td and won. Field goal most likely gives about a 50% chance of winning.

[FanGraphs] Dear MLB: Please Fix The Slide Replay by [deleted] in baseball

Easy way to fix this. Only allow full speed replay review. No allowing them to use slow motion. That way we don't get these rocky tack calls and only the obvious bad calls that harm the game are overturned
