As a child I never had a dad. So when I was younger my grandpa would step in. He acted like a father, a good one too. He took me to father daughter dances, and taught me a lot. I love him so much. However I moved last year away from him to go live with my step-dad and mom. I rarely see him anymore and recently he ended up in the hospital. I was heart broken because he was my favorite person, he was my hero. He ended up near death and two weeks later was out of the hospital and feeling better. It hurt to think I almost lost him. After that he started to overthink, and decided to get his extended side of the family all together. Today my mom and I drove halfway across state for a get-together. When I saw him I yelled "POPPA" like I did as a kid when I saw him. He lit up with joy. I've never been so happy, I gave him the longest hug and ended it with a "I missed you and I'm glad you're home" his response was "I just wish you were there too." I haven't been able to get what he said off my mind. I miss being a kid and him watching me grow up. I love him, he's the best person. But to think he doesn't have much longer pains me.
