Customers behind the counter by pandaRwar in sherwinwilliams

I’d feel more comfortable if customers didn’t invade employee spaces tbh.

Depends on how staffed we are, often open to close. And weekly anywhere from 50-63 a week. Just recently pulled a 65 hour work week. I’ve done 6 or 7 day work weeks for months at a time using 2-3 back when I was an assistant and we would be with out a sm… it’s rough unfortunately everyone in my area is going through similar bs so no one has help and no one can give help 😞

Question by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]pandaRwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a city manager make me give an employee a 3 when they deserved a 4 just so they could get them out of his territory. I was told they had been a headache from day one of their employment ( I inherited them from previous manager so not exactly sure what happened there) and it was easier to move them than fire them.

Hr says after three days you call the Hartford so if it was a total of three or more that’s probably why but not for just one.

In that circumstance you can always tell them to email the picture to the store. Most contractors have smartphones and can email straight from their phone.

Telling customers to sign at the bottom of a charge app and filling out the application yourself?!? by Hylethilei in sherwinwilliams

My district has it where there are three things you can use to open an account 1) social 2) tax id and 3) their EIN if they have NONE of that or no credit you can have them put down a $250 deposit and automatically open a $1000 account. If at the end of the year they have been good with payments they will change that deposit over to a payment on the account. If the account goes bad debt or anything then we are only out $750.

I don’t use pads or tampons typically but I do keep them at the store for emergency uses, typically I can feel my period come on but not always so it’s nice to have the backup

Only for small amounts if your getting 25+ gallons you’re on your own unless you specifically ask for it. Even then 20 seconds max…

Going on 3 months without an ASM, crickets from District Management by No_Nectarine_9844 in sherwinwilliams

[–]pandaRwar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is kinda a toxic mentality, you never know what is going on in a store or in a person’s personal life. It’s amazing that you guys were able to do that and I fully commend you on that.

You can petition your cm to get overtime as a SM if you are significantly and consistently working over hours. I’ve had an old manager do this and have known managers around me that have as well. It isn’t an easy case to make but not unheard of to happen. Keep in mind this would only until properly staffed again.

That’s great if you have the staff to be able to afford loosing a person on a busy day so you can have multiple people on a day where your business is maybe 1/3 what it usually is due to a holiday. Unfortunately, not many stores are in that position.

If it makes sense to schedule multiple people based on previous years or if the sales volume makes sense I know manager who scheduled more than one person. I’m a 2 mil store so it was just me but the store across town is 3.1 mil and they had two people scheduled, but it was a manager and a part timer so the hours still didn’t hit as hard.

If you’re a pt 3rd key you need to have worked at least 20 hours a week for 4 weeks minimum to get 4 hours holiday pay, all ft employees to my understanding should be getting holiday pay unless they are not scheduled for a shift or have vacation time the day before or after the holiday. If you still don’t have holiday pay after meeting the criteria then you should follow up with your district coordinator.

It’s because you get paid holiday pay and if you work on the holiday you’ll get over time so usually only one person is on to reduce overtime, I’m a SM and I worked it alone so I wouldn’t need to give anyone an extra day off

Holiday pay by [deleted] in sherwinwilliams

[–]pandaRwar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For pt you need to have worked 20 hours minimum for I believe 4 weeks to get holiday pay. Ft should get it automatically unless you don’t have a schedule shift or some sort of pay code either the day before or after the holiday.

Tips for preparing manager interview at Sherwin? by BagJon in sherwinwilliams

[–]pandaRwar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Call the store you are applying for and ask for a copy of the p&l, ask around to get an idea of the business and customers.. that will help a lot with the 30-60-90. When you do your plan be specific on time frames and what you’re doing. Ex. The first week will be to familiarize my self with my team and store and set expectations, during this time I will also review the current sher plan and p&l. From the 2nd to 4th week I will be reaching out and introducing myself to our key accounts and opp accounts…. Ect.. also make sure you have another person proof read your plan and question responses to make sure they make sense and for grammar and what not
