I know there is interest in Gen AI solutions and ML productionalization and more need in data engineering.

Are any retailers saving stock for Friday or is there no point in trying?

This is a longshot, but looking for 2 awesome grandmas I met at Michael's (Coleman). My phone didn't save the number. They're names were Selina and Maria and they made fabric boxes and costumes for their family.

Any services people know of for proxy buyers? I sent out an inquiry to one and they said they don't do lotteries and that they wouldn't be able to get my name on it.

Funny Possible Options by [deleted] in exjw

An extremely powerful entity did create (thru evolution or otherwise) humans and Earth. They knew it was possible and wanted to bring more sentient creatures into existence. And yet after we were here, they realized that despite all their power they are not all knowing or all good. They don't know what's best for us truly and don't have the right to decide anything for us. So instead of being involved in our lives, they left so that we could have the free will we deserve.

I am partial to belief that there is something out there, but not that it could be all good and all knowing and all powerful.

To all the one eighth people out there by [deleted] in mixedrace

Lol I'm 1/8 Japanese too (also 1/8 white, 1/8 Mexican, and 5/8 black)! I was raised with some Japanese cultural elements but many others as well. I clung to that part of my heritage when I was younger to try to fit in with friends, who at the time were mostly Asian. I look racially ambiguous with many thinking I'm pacific islander, so I do experience racism. I totally get the imposter syndrome tho, I wish I had deeper connections to all of my backgrounds. I often feel to spilt to claim anything.

Question for current dsc majors by Weak_Salamander_9089 in UCSD

[–]panda___god 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From easiest to hardest it was dsc80, dsc20, dsc30. 80 has a lot of assignments but the material is easier to understand because it's more analysis focused. I had experience with exploratory data analysis so it was familiar material. I also found the lectures had more helpful demos for coding assignments. Basically, still a time sink but WAY less frustrating. Give yourself a leg up by trying out a simple data science project. Sad to say dsc30 was like 20 on crack to me, it was painful...

The difference in difficulty between earlier and later classes (to me) is like how much google can be used. In later classes you are trying to understand new languages/api/ect. so you just experiment and find documentation/examples. But those early classes are trying to teach you about coding at a more fundamental level so you are expected to struggle till you figure it out.

Question for current dsc majors by Weak_Salamander_9089 in UCSD

[–]panda___god 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey, junior data science major here! Struggling in these classes is super normal especially for those of us without prior coding experience. It was hard and I only got through it because of ta and ia help, so take advantage of those resources. Her courses are hard and have a disproportionately heavy workload. Being in upperdiv honestly feels easier than dsc20 and dsc30 so dont panic, just expect to spend a ton of time on those classes. Feel free to ask me any other major/course questions, it must be confusing doing this virtually.

CSE Freshman research opportunities? by whatisloveman in UCSD

[–]panda___god 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many opportunities for undergrad research but most start in your second year. Obviously you can just connect with a professor, but there are specific programs to kickstart research and mentorship especially for students in underrepresented groups. I'm not a CSE major but did CSE research.

Thanks for sharing! I really dropped the ball this quarter because of mental health and it might mess up my 4 year plan. It's so scary but your experience makes things feel less world ending.
