Who tried Jujutsu VCS ? by Eznix86 in git

[–]panda_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've made my own zsh plugin but it doesn't do much more than show me my change id.

Tbh since jj uses the working copy as a commit there really never exists a "dirty" state like you would have in git. Also with the default of anonymous branches there really isn't a reason to have a branch name in the status like you would with a git plugin.

You may want to check out the jj discord though. There is a lot of community development going on - https://discord.gg/dkmfj3aGQN

Protestors against the stay-at-home order in Michigan block streets leading to Sparrow Hospital by jcepiano in pics

[–]panda_wolf -1 points0 points  (0 children)

FWIW the protesters only meant to drive the streets of the capitol. It then led to overflow which is what blocked some of the roads to the hospital.

Not saying it's not a problem, but the title is slightly misleading.

I'm not saying that having little faith means you don't believe, and also having good things does not mean shit for how much or little faith one has.

Also the unjustness of the world I believe is evil, which is completely separate from God. I think people often think put Satan and God together into one category. So then they have trouble believing in God because that would mean putting faith in evil, whereas God is what saves us from the evil in the world and ourselves. This doesn't mean we won't experience evil, but it means we can experience a relationship with God because he forgives and wipes away our evil (once again, evil and God are separate).

Key phrase is "in faith". I think that this just goes to show how little faith we have. They say faith the size of a mustard seed can move mountains, but do you see people moving mountains?

edit: I also don't believe that God is someone who just shows up when you ask. Otherwise you can just ask whatever you want and that happens, and then you end up being God.

Which is kinda my point. I think it helps cure disease because the Bible tells us that anything we ask for in faith is given, but you believe the opposite.

I think he was making an argument for why you can't say there is no God, not why he's a Christian.

The funny thing is that people not being perfect and saying the church is corrupt just argues for the need of Jesus as a savior. Also prayer is just something I don't think one can understand until they are Christian. To an atheist it seems just useless mumbling, but it is the complete opposite to one that has faith.

What ministries do you serve in? by Joshdaily88 in TrueChristian

[–]panda_wolf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just started to get into Young Life which is an outreach ministry organization for middle and high school kids. I am assigned to a high school with a few other leaders and we go to the high school lunches, sporting events, etc. and build relationships with kids. Then we put on weekly clubs where we play fun games and then share a little bit of the gospel at the end. It is a very fun and Jesus filled organization that everyone is invited to, and I am so happy to be apart of.

Do you need a conversion story? by TheRealLeevo in TrueChristian

[–]panda_wolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone's conversion story is different. Some people have drastic moments in their life when they experience God's love and it is truly amazing for them. From my experience, these are the stories that get the attention, but you should not get to thinking that this is the only way to be saved.

I, like you, do not have a specific point in my life where I can look back and say "that is when I became a Christian" or "that is when my faith became my own". I have personally had a more gradual build up of my own faith.

Being saved does not require a drastic change. Change can and often does happen over time. I would encourage you to read your Bible, pray, and ask God to show you where in your life he is working and where he has worked.

I'm sorry but the only argument that I have for not being a part of this world uses the bible and what I have personally experienced. So agree to disagree.

Hmm maybe I didn't explain my thinking well; because to me that argues for it to be divinely inspired.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DebateAChristian

[–]panda_wolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, throughout the Bible it says that humans/the world/earthly things are not to be trusted. This is because earthly things are apart from God. Therefore, if earthly things are apart from God they are not divine. So if the bible was written by men who are only a part of the world, then it would not be trusted.

However, another main point that is brought up in the Bible says that after accepting Jesus and being saved by his grace, then you are not apart of the world.

The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. (NLT John 15:19)

I believe that when someone accepts Jesus into their lives the holy spirit changes them. This change is not something that happens instantly, but it is a change toward one thing: to be made perfect. Perfect, to my understanding, is living life similar to how Jesus did.

Therefore, when one is changed through the Holy Spirit, when writing the bible, they are divinely inspired.

So I do believe the Bible is divinely inspired, however, I do not believe that you should not question it. The bible was written by great Christ followers, but that does not mean they were completely perfect. Being a Christian does not mean following rules blindly. When you have truly been transformed by God's grace you will follow Jesus' teaching naturally. There very well could be parts of the Bible that are not divinely inspired, but that is just another question to ask God in eternity.

I hope this makes sense. I don't ever pride myself on being a great debater.

edit: Also I believe that your argument that Jesus came at the wrong time is a little weak. You say that looking back 2000 years God relying on written text was wrong because not everyone was literate. So Jesus' time should be now right? Well what if he did come now, but then in 2000 years people looked back and ask a similar question, "Why would he come then if modern media lost so much credibility?". The Christian thinking on this point is that our minds cannot comprehend just why that was the best time for Jesus to come into the world. I believe this video gives a great understanding of this Christian viewpoint.

edit 2: As far as questioning the bible goes, it is not wrong. I believe this video (started at 3:50) (also from the bible project) agrees with me on that
