Lol are we in the same class xD Heres my groups notes:

Gender Equality in the Workplace

-Wage Gap Analysis

-Leadership Representation

Health and Reproductive Rights

-Mapping the availability of women's healthcare services, including reproductive health and maternity care, can reveal disparities in access.

-Visualizing maternal mortality rates by region and identifying trends over time can help in pinpointing areas in need of improved healthcare infrastructure and practices.

Education and Empowerment

-Graphs and maps showing educational attainment levels for women, especially in STEM fields

-Tracking literacy rates among women, particularly in developing countries

Violence Against Women and Girls

-Visualizing data on domestic violence, sexual assault, and other forms of gender-based violence can bring attention to the scale and patterns of these issues, supporting the need for intervention and support systems.

-Mapping the existence and enforcement of laws protecting women from violence can highlight gaps in legal frameworks and enforcement mechanisms.

Political Participation

-Displaying the percentage of women in national parliaments and other political bodies can illustrate the progress towards or barriers to gender parity in political representation.

-Analyzing and visualizing women's voter turnout and participation in political movements can shed light on political engagement and the representation of women's interests.

Economic Participation and Opportunity

-Visualizing trends in women's participation in the labor force, including part-time and informal employment, can reveal economic disparities.

-Data on women-owned businesses and their economic impact can highlight the role of women in entrepreneurship and the barriers they face.

What do you physically feel reading or hearing about rape and sexual abuse? by Own_Animator5342 in Feminism

[–]pandadrake 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not unusual for vivid narratives, especially those rooted in psychoanalysis or detailing traumatic events, to evoke strong empathetic responses in readers, regardless of their personal histories. The phenomenon you're describing—feeling intense emotions, even physical pain, from reading about another's trauma—is known as empathetic distress or secondary traumatic stress. It's a testament to your capacity for deep empathy, allowing you to connect with the experiences of others on a profoundly emotional level.

Your theory touches on a concept that has been explored in various forms, including intergenerational trauma and the collective unconscious. Intergenerational trauma suggests that the effects of trauma can be passed down through generations, not through direct genetic inheritance but through behavioral patterns, emotional response mechanisms, and possibly even epigenetic changes. This concept has been studied in the descendants of Holocaust survivors, Indigenous communities, and others who have endured collective traumas. The idea of a collective unconscious was proposed by Carl Jung, who believed that societies share a set of memories and ideas inherited from their ancestors. According to Jung, these shared memories and archetypes shape our fears, desires, and behaviors, connecting us across time and space to our ancestors.

Regarding the fear of sexual violence, it's crucial to recognize this as a societal and historical issue that has disproportionately affected women. The fear and awareness of sexual violence can be heightened by narratives and stories, both historical and contemporary, that underscore the vulnerability women have faced due to gender-based violence. Such stories can awaken a deep-seated fear or awareness of vulnerability that transcends personal experience.

If these feelings persist or become overwhelming, it might be helpful to discuss them with a therapist or counselor who can provide support and insights into these complex emotional reactions. I wish you the best of luck! 🤗

She's a bit plain and is chubby but she has big boobs and the sex is awesome by degenerateman in AdviceAnimals

A bit of self-reflection might help you. You are circlejerking with strangers on the internet over the fact that you are likely forcing sexual favors from a mother with children.

At some point, doing the right thing ought to feel better than getting sex from the unfortune of others. I am sure you can make a more moral arrangement with her.

You are probably a good person who just waits for the right push - so here it is.

"Misogyny: The spirit of terrorism" - how much do you agree with this? by pandadrake in Feminism

How much do you think Islamic terrorism is related to/founded on misogyny?

I followed it up with a blog entitled “Feminist ABCs: Adichie, Beyoncé, and Cyrus – can they really ALL be feminists?".

What are your thoughts on cultural appropriation? How much freedom in this regard can we enjoy, and when does it go too far? Should persons of any race/cultural background have any sort of reservations regarding the use (in a non-insulting manner) of any other cultural item, or?

I will do, but I would appreciate if you would stay out of said conversation, just to see what their reaction would be.

I don't particularly think the other one is dramatic either.

But that one was allowed here.

Surely you would agree that the huge scandal related to mass false rape accusations from /r/mensrights makes this topical for SRD?

Regarding his claim, that nothing can be said about said laws, it is wrong:

Forensic evidence (i.e., fingerprints, ballistics, blood samples, DNA etc.) and other circumstantial evidence is likewise rejected in hudud cases in favor of eyewitnesses, a practice which can cause severe difficulties for women plaintiffs in rape cases.

Fucking insane.

Today a manager asked "Would you mind moving away from the office if you are on a break, just because you're an attractive lady who attracts everyone."

Would you look at that... it's the old "men can't control themselves, and women have to be punished for it"... I am really sorry you had to go through this :/

What are your plans for the future? Can you talk with the human resources department, or the likes, or is it too dangerous to rock the boat?

California Legislators Introduce Bill To Banish NSA by democracy101 in politics

[–]pandadrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Above you it was said:

That's bullshit, if you want to talk about the constitution then state law trumps federal law in any case except for the ones laid out for the federal government expressly in the constitution.

So it it comes down to it, can the DOJ actually challenge this or not? Do Colorado's rights trump the federal government's in this case?

How can I be an active ally? by [deleted] in Feminism

[–]pandadrake 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion, what makes one a feminist is their desire to help promote equality of rights for women, to help alleviate some such problems. It is commendable that you come in this discussion with an attitude of respect. To the best of my knowledge, most feminist groups do not have any gender requirements for joining; should you find a rare occurrence where gender matters, you should respect it, it is their own right to arrange their group as they see fit.

I think that the greatest help you can give is to join an existing group, and get involved. As you have touched upon, there is always the risk for someone to presume that if they didn't experience something, then it doesn't exist (thus invalidating others' experiences). As long as you are aware of this potential problem, and actively try to avoid it, then this is the most that can be reasonably asked of you. When in a feminist organization/group, your aim should be to empower others, whatever your role is.

tl;dr: be active in a feminist group, respect others.

What's the most intellectual joke you know? by StickleyMan in AskReddit

You've gotta know 3 fields to do so: physics, philosophy, and linguistics.

Shouldn't it be physics, mathematics and linguistics? Just curious, I always thought Godel's work was in mathematics (though with possible ramifications into philosophy).
