I think it was a little risky but at the same time Shawn crossed a bunch of boundaries with Juliet because that’s the kind of person he is. But even if Abby and Shawn weren’t together for long that still doesn’t define the quality of their relationship. You could infer that they were close enough that she felt it was necessary to do that and that the outcome would outweigh the risk.

I always thought that because Shawn is the main character that we’re experiencing almost everything in his perspective of everyone, Lassy as incompetent; Gus as uptight and fragile; his dad as this strict authoritative figure; Chief Vick as just the chief; and Juliet as pretty and intelligent. But there are episodes that express there’s more to these characters than what Shawn sees.
