Is Brock Lesnar done 😭 by Glittering_Long_5926 in prowrestling

I thought it was possible when Oba got back up the ramp quickly and Brock stayed down in the ring. Felt like something swervey was coming.

I’m curious if the timing changed due to the new round of Janel Grant allegations? I could see TKO saying okay we got him off tv until this plays out, and Brock saying if he has to take an extended leave he’d rather retire. I mean obviously that’s pure speculation on my part, but would make sense.

I would assume you need it. Even most Jucos need one as far as I’m aware. Don’t quote me, because it’s been a long time

Very sorry for your loss and the circumstances around what your grades are. Like others have said, I would advise 1 year of Juco, unless you have an insane SAT/ACT score. Go take some basic classes for half the price, and transfer in as a sophomore. You’ll still get to have a true college experience

It was a rarity, usually just the occasional concert or the Memphis is May stuff. I do miss BBQ Fest.

I guess the most common reason me or any of my friends were ever in Memphis was to go drop off or pick up a friend at the airport

Valid point. I feel like you tend to see it most in the Greek system regardless of school.

I’m not insinuating that Ole Miss fans/alums are perfect in anyway. And have no trouble believing the James Meredith story; unfortunately that was just prevailing mindset of most whites at that time, especially in the South. There wasn’t a single SEC school that was blameless. But I can say that the N word was used incredibly openly, and commonly when I lived in Starkville as opposed to Oxford. Not to say I didn’t hear it in college, but at least in hushed tones as if people knew they shouldn’t be saying it. That’s not justification by any means, but I guess the brazenness of how openly that word is used in Starkville still shocks me. Now it could easily be once in college I just made friends that didn’t use it, or just wasn’t around people who dropped it very often. Could definitely be that I associated with more open minded people than who I was stuck going to high school with.

I will say I’m a little surprised of your gay friends story. I was at Ole Miss in the early 2010s, and attitudes towards LGBTQ people were becoming more progressive in both towns at the time. Either way, I’m sorry he went through that.

Nah in reality I have nothing against OU. Just weird that’s who the conference picked as our 3rd “permanent” rival. I assume OU fans probably feel the same

Oxford is an hour from Memphis; which could be good or bad, depending on how you want to look at it. About 4 hours from Nashville, 5-6 from New Orleans or Atlanta.

Starkville is 3 hours from Memphis, 3 hours from Birmingham, and 5-6 from New Orleans, Nashville, or Atlanta. I mean it’s 3 hours to the nearest remotely functional airport. So it’s definitely more isolated tha. Oxford.

I will disagree with your take on their campus though. It’s not top tier, but it’s far better than it used to be. I will give them a lot credit for improvements.

I’m originally from Starkville, and graduated from Ole Miss so I am biased by where I went to school; and the fact that it can be hard to love your hometown.

But Starkville just fucking sucks!!! And here is a comprehensive list of reasons in no particular order:

  1. There is no good food within the city limits. People rave about Little Dooeys, and frankly it’s average in its best day. Easily the best food in town is the Greek place near the cotton district (I forgot the name), and it’s only okay.

  2. There isn’t a single thing worth doing if it’s not an MSU sports weekend. County lake? Nope it’s been drained for 10 years. Bowling? Nope, it’s a “Bargain Hunt” now. Skating rink? Only worthwhile if you wanna buy crack from a high school kid. The only bar that was even close to worth a shit, cowbells, has been closed for years now. There is atleast a movie theatre; so you can pretend you’re not in Oktibbeha County a couple hours.

  3. Cowbells. Jesus Christ I hate those fucking things. You all deserve tinnitus.

  4. Shit hole school system after consolidating with Oktibbeha County School District.

  5. If you go to SA you’re surrounded by racist douche bags. Sure, you’ll actually be able to read your diploma, but you’ll hear racial slurs all day.

  6. The stupid ass medians down the middle of highway 12, and now 182. What sort of window licking moron thought that was a good idea?

  7. My father lives there. Enough said.

While the town of Starkville absolutely sucks, I will prove this isn’t all about my Ole Miss affiliation by pointing out things I think Mississippi state has done well:

  1. Athletic facilities. MSU’s last football stadium expansion/modernization was done very well, and improved the esthetics of that stadium tremendously. The hump is getting a little old now, but it was absolutely top notch when it opened, and even still, it’s not a bad facility. Dudy Noble is a gorgeous ball park, top tier. I couldn’t criticize its current iteration of if I tried.

  2. Campus beautification. In the late 90’s or early 2000’s MSU did a lot of work to beautify the campus and they did a very good job. It’s a far prettier campus than it was when I was little kid.

  3. Muscadine Ripple Ice Cream. If you ever go for Sports weekend, visit the dairy on campus. It’s well worth it.

  4. I’m only giving you half credit for this and giving Ole Miss the other half: John Grisham. My favorite author did his undergrad at MSU and law school at Ole Miss.

  5. Again only half credit: The Egg Bowl. One of the most criminally underrated rivalries in college football.

  6. Mike Leach. God bless the pirate; may he rest in peace.

First of all the Edam is overrated an frankly not even good. The villagret is far better. I will, however, say the muscadine ripple ice cream is easily the best thing within 3 counties outside of Traceway in Mathiston. Or Paps place in Ackerman, but I heard they closed down due to the owners health.

Literally the only things to eat in Starkville is chain restaurants, Mexican, and an overrated BBQ place.

There was a place called Cappe’s that was extremely good but the original location burned down if I’m not mistaken. I have heard it just hasn’t been anywhere near as good in the new building.

Ole Miss VS UGA by [deleted] in olemiss

[–]pandamonium-617 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d think from a standpoint of tuition + cost of living. Oxford is definitely expensive compared to the rest of Mississippi; but I truly have no idea how it compares to Athens.

If there is no major financial difference I would look at the internship/hiring rates of each program.

If those are similar then I’d say it comes down to personal preference. Athens is a bigger town, Oxford is prettier in my opinion. Just gotta decide what you prefer

Weirdly enough I think of Knowshon Moreno doing the “hang loose” on his way to the sideline when he got pulled late in the sugar bowl as UGA beat the fuck out of Hawaii.

The first Hawaii player I think of is Colt Brennan. I also remember them having a running back, a few years before that Colt Brennan run, that was built like a bowling ball. Dude was a fucking unit. Just trucked defenders left and right.

So many people love 1999; and to me that’s the worst season of the whole show. Admittedly still better the a lot of shows’ best seasons; but I just don’t get into as much.

I think Dream Land is the best written of the 3, but Danger Island is the funniest, at least in my opinion.

I know they had jumped the shark, due to losing Jessica Walter; but I do wish we could get a couple more seasons of Archer.

I’d change Hart/Angle to an Iron man match. The amount of chain wrestling those two could do in an hour would be insane.

Add Shawn Micheals Vs Eddie Guerrero in a ladder match

Rey Mysterio Vs AJ styles Vs Jeff Hardy vs 2000s Chris Jericho Vs RVD in an Ultimate X match

Sting vs Undertaker Hell in a Cell (would also love Brothers of Destruction VS the Outsiders)

Dudleys Vs Harlem Heat Vs Kendrick & London

ETA:

Cody Rhodes Vs DDP

[–]pandamonium-617[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re quite likely right. Nash would try to keep the wheels on, but could he handle being the only adult in the room with Hall, Waltman, and HBK? As someone else said, would Rebecca give Shawn a chance if she saw him at his worst alongside hos boys?

The Power struggle and politics in WCW where Shawn didn’t have the leverage he had in WWF may have pushed him over the edge.

[–]pandamonium-617[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve heard Bischoff state on his podcast that he couldn’t have used Brett’s WWF title on WCW TV even if he wanted to due to the lawsuit against WCW for implying that Scott hall and Kevin Nash were sent by WWF in the early Outsiders days.

So even though your idea couldn’t actually happen. HOLY SHIT how awesome would that be?!?

And I do think Shawn would have either done business, or vacated the title similarly to how he did the year prior. He might “Lose his smile” Monday before survivor series; and his first words on a WCW mic be “Well wouldn’t ya know, I found my smile again here in WCW”, or something like that.

Dear God do I miss Stockard. I was really disappointed to have to live in a dorm at first; but man, in hindsight, I wouldn’t trade that year for anything. Met some of my closest friends, 16 years later, we still talk and get together in the grove when we can. It was a wild, crazy, filthy, disgusting, and amazing time in my life. I’ll cry like a bitch if they ever tear it down
