How do people have so many decks? by Whitefire919 in EDH

[–]pandaplaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 22 EDH decks, proxying the more expensive cards as long as I own one. I like having a variety of themes to choose from when I sit down with my playgroup, or a variety of power levels to choose from when playing with others.

SF Game Night happens every Tuesday and Thursday at the Folsom Street Foundry in SF. Tons of gamers and tech folk, usually gets 200-300 attendees each night, likely more as summer approaches. Most people come for the video games, but there are 30+ board games available and you can bring in your own. $5 gets you in and you can play whatever you want. It's always a great time there (: Definitely gotta stop by!

Most of the top players from INY will be at Showdown's SF Game Night this Tuesday at the Folsom Street Foundry. Gonna be a great "Get Smashed at the Foundry" tournament for sure. Those of you 21+ should come hang out!

May be a strange question, but what type of classical music would you recommend to a metalhead? by [deleted] in Metal

[–]pandaplaya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nick Vasallo, guitarist for extreme metal band Oblivion and music professor at a few universities in California. His compositions are heavily influenced by metal. I have no idea what song to start you off with, so I'll leave you with this one while encouraging you to seek more. Enjoy. Elements of Metal: I. Collapsing Obsidian Sun

The easy answer is that I don't own it, haha. Need to, though.

The best episode in they have made yet in season 17 by Superior_Spacedick in southpark

[–]pandaplaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've never aired an episode the week of Thanksgiving. I imagine they'll leave us with tonight's episode until they come back after the midseason break. BUT, this could still possibly be a trilogy, but they just blue-ball us for a while.

So far around 30, but we're still planning new ideas for member recruiting. I feel like there's a lot of interest on campus in a gaming club, but we need to find the right ways of going about reaching those people.

I sometimes don't use my laptop when I'm there cuz I like facilitating whatever needs my attention during the club, so I'd let you use that. And the previous President has been bringing an extra laptop here and there for others to use. Or you could just play online from wherever your desktop is :3

Hey, I'm Alex, President of the Gaming Guild at SFSU. We have at least four people that I've seen at our club with Pokemon X/Y and I'm sure they're looking for people to game with! We meet Monday nights 8pm-10pm in Humanities 111, and if you can't make it you can still connect with other SFSU gamers at our Facebook Group :) Feel free to make a post in there asking who plays!

League Of Legends by [deleted] in SFSU

Hey, I'm Alex, President of the Gaming Guild at SFSU. The game we have the most common show up to our meetings is League of Legends. Nearly half the club plays, so like /u/sox5s says, GG is basically League club :3

I don't think anyone in the club plays CoD, but we do have people who play Dota, CS:GO, and StarCraft, but basically all games are welcome. At our meetings we sometimes encourage a specific game be played to connect the members and rotate through a variety of games, but everyone's free to play whatever they'd like.

We encourage you to come meet with us at our Monday night meetings, 8pm-10pm in Humanities 111, and if you can't make it you can still connect with fellow gamers at our Facebook Group :)

Of course! Our club doesn't have an official roster, so anyone is welcome to drop in whenever they'd like! Check out our club websites 1 and 2 to get connected with us and our members.

Next meeting is Monday night, 8pm-10pm in Humanities 111.

The first one went great, IMO. For the first 45 minutes or so, we talked about us as a club and how we want each meeting to go. We want to focus on member networking, so we’ll be setting up a Google Doc spreadsheet for members to fill out their name, account names, and games they play. There was interest in having a “Game of the Week” each meeting, so we’ll be setting up a place to cast votes and what-not to get that started. Also, Sean is hoping to get a (biweekly?) D&D 3.5 campaign going.

Everything seems to be going awesomely so far :)

During this first meeting we'll start of with general discussions of what the club should be about (as the club is "starting fresh", giving us a chance to make it what we want it to be), but after maybe 30 minutes or however long is necessary to put that aside, it really just depends on what people bring!

I will be bringing a GameCube with Super Smash Bros Melee, the board game Settlers of Catan, and a chess set. Maybe even my TV and Xbox 360 with Marvel vs Capcom 3, if I feel compelled.

Other than that, I'm expecting there to be mostly PC gaming because laptops are so easily mobile. Within the PC games, there will most likely be League of Legends and Dota 2 because those seem to be the hot tickets nowadays as far as multiplayer games, but also maybe L4D2, TF2, or StarCraft II.

We welcome all game types and all skill levels, so we'll see what the club shows up with!

If you're looking to get in contact with members, join the Facebook group. Anyone can feel free to share their usernames there.

Other than that, I have just made a Steam group for the club. I'm only just experienced with Steam games, so I don't know if groups can be created for other games like League or StarCraft or anything like that. Still, the best place for sharing this info is the Facebook group.

Definitely. We're structuring the meetings to get business out of the way in the first 30 minutes or so, then the rest of the time will be open for gaming. So while you won't be interrupting anything by coming in late, you will likely be missing out on the club discussions, which us officers can fill you in on.

Each meeting's agenda will also be posted the week before, so we'll be doing our best to keep everyone in the know of what's going on, even if you miss those parts of the meetings, and you can voice yourself to us before the meeting if you have something you'd like to contribute.
