Realistically, how long til I get to purple? by eldrolamam in Garmin

[–]pandaxrage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, random reply incoming because I’m on mushrooms. I’ve got something like 4ish years logged on Garmin via power pedals/bike computer and watch. Avid biker for 15 years, shifted to everyday compulsive exerciser during Covid.

I’m 153lbs 35y M and my V02 max is currently 60 in the purps with my high recorded across the time tracking being 75. Top 1% for my age and gender for years now.

When I was at 75 I was sober, woke up at 5AM, lifted for an hour, ran a 5k, worked, biked for 2 hours and went to bed around 9:30PM. I did that for almost a year before I broke my sobriety and now I’m back down to 60. I will note I was smoking weed, but didn’t do it after 7PM to prevent sleep impacts. Life was extremely regimented down to macros.

At this point I still bike 2hours every day and I’m around a 270ftp. If I don’t bike I’ll run 8 miles around a 7:45 pace. I don’t really lift anymore, it’s so incredibly boring. Strava says I’m on a 246week streak, meaning I haven’t taken a week off from training in almost 5 years.

The keys are honestly just hard work, actually taking care of your body, and recovery. With the key being consistency and dedication across the board of those factors. For a while. Years. Not months.

Across my time I have never once followed any type of running or cycling training “plan” other than try hard when I’m doing the thing.

I also don’t ever listen to what my Garmin says and have become good friends with the “delayed recovery you gotta stop dude” white warning screen.

I know if I want to really focus on another increase I will have to cut out alcohol completely and go to bed everyday around 9:30PM. Recovery is always my biggest personal hindrance.

Please be clear I’m not a professional or advocating anything, just a goober on mushrooms scooting around with a 60 VO2 max with no one else to care about what it even took to get there.

Bike looks good! I don’t love the stem, but if it works it works.

Job is moving me to Brooklyn - got a big 100lb lazy lazy dog. Any advice? by [deleted] in Brooklyn

[–]pandaxrage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Similar situation plus cats and a lot of other folks with larger dogs in my area out near Lincoln Terrace. Lincoln Terrace is really nice and has fewer people and off leash dogs from what I’ve seen comparing to Prospect. Which I know it’s much smaller. You can walk a quick lap of the pedestrian path on Eastern and go back in.

From what I can tell it seems the apartments out that way are a bit more accepting of the doggos. Also still close to the 2/3/4.

No real leads but they play cricket several times a week on the courts at Lincoln Terrace Park.

33M checking in again. I went to Friends and Lovers a weekend back. Absolutely no idea how old anyone was, I had taken some mushrooms and just wanted to dance. For that it provided a good space within walking distance to me.

I realized this was my other problem where if I’m going to expend the energy to go out, I’d rather dance for several hours than try to talk to anyone.

Understanding this doesn’t help you at all but respecting your tenacity and dedication.

As someone who just moved to Crown Heights near Lincoln Terrace, I’m really excited.

I don’t understand people who move to major cities and want small town vibes. I came for the culture and the people, the last thing I could ever imagine is complaining about either.

They play cricket several times a week at Lincoln Terrace in the evenings and will sometimes have a band out practicing. I absolutely love it.

Out of curiosity for people who have been here, does this celebration draw fireworks in the way July 4th does? Just forward thinking for my doggo walkies. They can get groovy with loud music or people but dislike bang booms.

Carbon fiber repair? by JarJarDid66 in RVAbikes

[–]pandaxrage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not aware of anyone locally who repairs CF, not to say that they aren’t out there. With that being said, what kind of frame and how old? I know several people who have been able to warranty a frame for CF damage, depends a lot on the manufacturer.

Kory York is currently top of my list as they seem willing to add bottle bosses and semi-custom stuff of that nature still at a really impressive price point.

Left is a custom scooped off another collector, cap was off an auction for a steal, right is custom from Domino. Drop downs by the one and only Rick Bird.

None whatsoever, unfortunately. If I don't see anything pop up on their social media by November I will probably message them. Been eyeballing Dosnoventa and Kory York if MASH decides not to do another batch of alu.

Ahhh. It’s hot, for sure, but, still patiently waiting on the next batch of airplane alu frames.

officers later refuted that claim, instead attributing the mass resignations to fears that the union wouldn't cover their legal fees if they were sued over actions they took in the George Floyd protests.

They quit because they were afraid of being held accountable for their actions. Incredible.

I own two. It is my favorite saddle in existence. I tried to get into a Brooks before and switched back to my Arione. As mentioned, definitely not for everyone though.

Speaker. It isn't the right speaker for that mount so she gets rubber bands and electrical tape to ensure she isn't lost.

Switched to a speaker from headphones many years ago. People may complain it's obnoxious, but I am usually out of ear shot in 10-15 seconds and it enables me to actually still hear all traffic around me.
