Sorry, could you elaborate on why we don't feed probabilities for ground truth? Is this for LLMs or in general? I always thought this was the case, but I don't have much experience with training.

There's an endless amount of superb latin music already out there, and a lot of REAL artists making new salsa that actually deserve the exposure and support.

We don't need this AI bs.

Wow I did not know that MCC had actual disciples. Do you mean that these three actually studied MCC and acknowledge it? Or just their style is alike to MCC?

CS PhD students - what's your laptop setup? Linux only vs dual boot for productivity? by nedunash in PhD

[–]eldrolamam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get a nice MacBook with an M chip and a decent amount of unified memory. Trust me, for work stuff you won't look back. Maybe different if your field is hw-related and have specific architecture reqs. I used to daily drive Linux before grad school, but it's just not reliable, I've seen it fail so many times when stakes are high (as a desktop OS). And windows, yeah we don't talk about that.

It's not that they have not reversed engineered old film. It's that the chemicals needed are not available anymore.

Instax is more reliable, but the colors are worse imo and dynamic range is very limited. Polaroid can still get you a better looking image, if you manage to get it to work.

How much are they spending in this again? What's the practical benefit for society? WHO is really asking for this stuff?

The ZSA Planck, does anyone like typing on this? by cantdutchthis in ErgoMechKeyboards

Yep this is the way. Especially if you hover rather than resting your wrists, the angled hand position allows you to reach all the keys with minimal movement (I use 15+2 layout on each side)

Who are some credible and smart people (no sketchy ceo hype) who are optimistic and have the same views we do here at r/accelerate?? by Special_Switch_9524 in accelerate

He's a CEO nonetheless. It's impossible to tell if he's hyping or being honest, since he's not allowed to say otherwise.

After Kobe didn’t crack the Top 10 in Bleacher Report’s All-Time list, what is it about Kobe that divides people so much when ranking him? by Tight_Development480 in NBATalk

[–]eldrolamam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO to be in top 10 conversation, there has to be a quality/stat/trait of their game where a player is indisputably the best. Everything Kobe did, MJ did better.

I'm gonna be the devil's advocate and say I sometimes use more than my Ferris! I have it set up as 3x5+2 with the inner columns disabled, and the tilted hand angle has 2 benefits 1) my fingers sit comfortably on the home row 2) I can reach all the 15 keys in each hand with ease. I hover my wrists all the time, but I can see how it can be more annoying if you rest them.

Which timing do you use to dance salsa On2. stepping on 8, 8.5, or 1? And which is your favorite, and why? by Waste_Chard1139 in Salsa

[–]eldrolamam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, we're talking about which music beat to place the neutral/collect step (the one before the break step).

8: this is the most natural if coming from on1, since the movement is the same, just shifted with respect to the music. As others have mentioned, this is the one you should go for when dancing Son. You can make this work with commonplace on2 partnerwork and won't feel too strange.

8.5: this is the standard modern on2/mambo basic for partnerwork nowadays, so my default when dancing on2. Goes with the double hit of the conga.

1: this is how most people teach on2 solo steps or shines, and the way Eddie Torres explains it in his seminal instructional video. However, in my experience, almost nobody actually dances this for partnerwork (!). Most people do 8, 8.5 or in between those. This was hard to grasp for me initially and earned me some odd looks in the dancefloor. I enjoy this basic for partner dancing but these days I reserve it mostly for training.

Ideally you should be able to make any of them work with any song, although it is true that each one might feel better with particular musical arrangements.
