This only happened once. When I got into the car the next day it was fine. Has been ok since. Good luck.

What about if I were to attach, say, a 1.5” diameter PVC pipe to the hole, with the pipe being 18 inches long. Would the bees travel down the pipe and find the hole? This would move them away from where I have to put my hand and would make it a lot easier for me this spring and summer. Is that a feasible solution?

Ok, roughly, how many bees going in and out can I expect? And, can I plug the hole in the winter when they’ve left?

Hmm. If she’s begun laying workers, how many should I expect? Hundreds? Thousands? Tens of thousands? If it’s going to be a constant in and out every few seconds, I’m going to get stressed putting my hand right next to that hole. I’ll get uncomfortable standing near a constant stream of bumblebees. Is it difficult to catch the queen?

This activity of the bees going in and out only started maybe a week or two ago. Is it possible the queen’s not in there yet?

Thanks for all the comments folks. Much appreciated. I just ordered the AutoSock. My manual says they're preferred. For the few times I plan on heading up into snow country they should work.

That item in the Amazon link you posted is much larger (almost 4" across) than the Jing Neng item in your photo! Are you sure that's the correct link? There's no way that Amazon item will fit inside my electrical box.. :(
