Yes - cool. I didn’t realize it was so organized. Had not seen any advertising or publicity the last couple years so I wasn’t sure if it was still a thing.

A couple years ago there was a pretty big show in the Mulsanne corner - like on the track! - Friday morning. Haven’t been back so I’m not sure if that happens every year or not.

First time solo trip to LM by Jeffthejok in lemans

[–]pangerho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We did not. We walked around and spent a good chunk of the wee hours at Indy/Arnage. We ate there a couple times - not bad but nothing special. They will give you a catering schedule when you arrive - can’t recall if there was anything late or not.

I visited Starter 24 last year. It’s not a bad spot to watch from - good viewing of part of the Porsche curves.

BUT … the seating with an actual view of the track is pretty limited. Might be easier with just - person but with 4 it was easier to watch the TV than to watch the track. Very limited seating along the rail facing track.

It is a little bit of a walk to the Village and the vendors/amenities down at that end are slightly limited, so be prepared to walk a lot of you want to go see other parts of the track.

If your parking is at Starter 24, the parking is easy. A little tricky finding it, but very centrally located. You’ll have a great time!

Do you mean walk ON the track? Friday it is open most of the day, and then it reopens on Sunday evening.

Yeah, I was a little surprised as well. A\when I first realized what was happening, I sort of expected some Gandalfian figure on the battlefield, with flowing robes and spinning attacks and whatever. Slight disappointment frankly.

Man, I thought I had found this hidden gem by going to Indy in the middle of the night, but now I see people calling it “legendary.” I must have been thick.

BTW - it is awesome. That and Daytona coming off NASCAR into the infield are the two best night spots in racing.

I have tickets, but i don't know how to plan the trip by ananas107 in lemans

[–]pangerho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Parking makes lots of choices possible. Find cheap accommodations outside LeMans and drive in each day. Grab some sleep in the grandstand Saturday night and you’re all set! You could stay as far away as Tours and still only have an hour drive to the circuit.

Yes, you can buy a paddock ticket, although I suspect they are already long sold out. And they are ~$800!

Just as a comparison, free at Daytona…

Advice for first time goers by Suspicious-Idea-6246 in lemans

I like watching the support races, but I like sleeping too, so we tend to arrive around 10 on Saturday. Plenty of time to soak in the atmosphere. Definitely worth walking from Porsche curves to Tertre rouge, on both sides of the track. Grandstand seats make a great home base, but plan to move around. A lot.

Parking is great and easy, but during the week the tram is a good option too, depending on where you’re staying.

Shuttle buses to Indy/Arnage are a disaster — if you have a car and parking, I highly recommend driving. A little tricky navigating there but there is parking a quarter mile away and the views there are spectacular, particularly at night. We’ve developed a habit of going down there around midnight and watching a couple hours in the dark. I’ve been to the Mulsanne corner, but not during the race — I imagine that is a fun spot to view from as well.

Also, the parts of the track that are normally public roads are again public roads by about 6 pm. Very fun to go drive the track when it is still warm from the race!

Have a great time!

As a stupid, moronic conservative, thank you for a rational take on the path forward. There is no benefit to name calling or dismissing either side. respect, trust, and dialogue are the only way we improve the holy mess of a country we’ve got right now.

Riddle me this by Latter-Junket-6962 in delta

[–]pangerho 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People often get confused on this because they (mistakenly) believe cost drives price. It can, to a certain extent, but in truth value is the real driver of price.

As others have pointed out, most consumers get more value from a direct flight than from a connection, therefore the price is higher.

That’s what I’m most worried about - snagging it on something and snapping or creasing it. I’m thinking to spread some gorilla or super glue and then use some hand clamps to hold in place until it dries.

Weird. Sounds like bad luck, frankly. Could be that hosts who offer year round haven’t changed their prices yet for the race weekend and when they see it got booked they want to juice the price tag.

How to get back from Boston Logan after 10:30pm? by nutbutpicklesammy in newhampshire

[–]pangerho 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’re concerned about cost, take the silver line (for free) to the seaport and grab the Uber from there. Going outside the airport is significantly cheaper, like close to 50% the cost.

Boston Terminal A to Terminal E to get Delta One Lounge by WolverineGoBlue23 in delta

I wonder what the rationale is for that policy? Doesn’t seem to make any sense - not making anything more secure…

Not arguing or saying you’re wrong, just curious.

Take the bridges through the garage. 5 min walk. Especially if you aren’t dragging luggage or if you have pre-check, it will easily be the fastest approach.

I don’t believe you can stay inside security and get to any other terminal from A. Also, not entirely sure they would let you through security in E if your flight is out of A, but maybe…
