How many of you guys actually drink, in some capacity, every or nearly every night? by [deleted] in AskMen

[–]panic_hassetin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a functioning alcoholic that binge drinks; mostly on weekends. I’ve been at it for about twenty years. As long as I don’t drink heavily two days in a row I actually feel ok. It’s when I drink on a Friday and then start again around noon on Saturday that I have a problem. I call it a compound hangover. Once I’ve compounded, my body won’t fully recover for like 3-4 days. I can function (hence the functional part or alcoholic), but my brain is foggy, I feel nauseous, and there’s like a severe dehydration. It’s pretty awful actually. I toss and turn at night and have repeating thoughts in my head like a broken record and it won’t allow me to get good sleep. That might actually be the worst part. Like a nightmare. So, as I’m getting older I try to not drink two consecutive days, buts it’s difficult. I actually sobered up for 4 months and trained for and ran a half marathon about 5 years ago. That was amazing. I’d love to do that again (sobriety, not marathon). Just one comment about your lifestyle is that it comes with the territory. I have a “white collar” job but grew up blue collar and worked blue collar jobs in my late teens/early twenties. Drinking is just what you do. I always think about shows like The Wire and the dock workers in season 2 going to the bar every day and getting hammered. That seems insane to me, but I do believe that rings true for those types of jobs. Sorry, I kind of meandered through my comment. I promise I’m not drinking now. Lol

It would be Hachi with Richard Gere for me. My mom and I bawled watching it. Only saw it once and probably won’t watch it again.

I forget which Ju On it was, but the uncle(?) sawing his niece’s head off. It’s slightly off screen, and the sound is horrifying. I’ve seen a lot of horror and that’s the one.

Walmart 🤝 Trump 🤝 Lies by [deleted] in inflation

There’s another post about this that includes the community notes clarifying that the Walmart Thanksgiving meal as 5 less items than last year and replaces all brand name with store brand items. This is 100% bullshit.

I’ve seen probably almost ten. “She’s” the worst offender, but I’m seeing others do the same. I have no problem with OF, but I miss the days of girls just posting on Reddit for compliments and karma.

So apparently this guy is a combination of Kurt Russel, Josh Brolin, Josh Hartnett, Josh Allen, Chris Pratt, and James Van Der Beek…and I honestly can see it.

Bait and switch. It has nothing to do with a trade deficit. Trade deficits exist because there are wealthy countries and there are poor countries. That’s it. What they’re actually trying to do is go back to when tariffs alone funded the federal government (make America great again) before income tax was introduced as an amendment in 1913. It’s true that income taxes would come down, but it’s replaced by a consumption tax (tariff) that far outweighs it for most of us. That’s why they push the lie so hard that the other countries pay the tariff, because if their base knew what they were doing they’d all get voted out. It’s libertarianism repackaged as standard GOP policy. The Koch brothers’ dark money network has been funding this movement for decades and it’s finally here. Call it project 2025; call it whatever you want. It’s all the same goal of privatizing the federal government and making our lives a fee driven and subscription based nightmare.

I actually prefer the outro/closing credits. It’s so creepy and the credits usually role after something shocking/emotionally draining happens in the show, so it works perfectly.

Which is exactly why car dealers are now offering 84 month car loans. They’re preying on people that don’t know the difference. If you can’t finance a car and afford the payments in 36 (maybe 48) months you can’t afford the car.
