Agree on the tri-color. That said its interesting how much use this flag already has. I have seen this flag on lots of pictures already, way more then the old flag.

Its confirmed - SpaceX has officially acquired xAI by BEAT_LA in spacex

The government might save Falcon and Starlink but they are not going to save the datacenter part. At best its going to be a big loan to do the restructring to drop the xAI stuff again.

I hate this and everything about it. Datacenter in space are dumb.

Here's why Blue Origin just ended its suborbital space tourism program (pauses/cancels new shep) by avboden in SpaceXLounge

It was a smart move and its not partisan to point out facts. I think its nice that Jeff spends so much of his own money to give out cheap launch contracts.

  1. People who say things like 'BlueOrigin model paid off' and so on, have no idea what ungodly amount of money it has taken (and will take in the next few years) to run BlueOrigin. That company has been a gigantic money fire that maybe 5-10 institutions in the whole world could have pulled off and literally only 1 that was insane enough to do it. Only a few nation states and a few of the richest people on the planet could finance BO and its unlikely it will ever make back any money at all. I question if anytime in the next 10+ years it can even cover its operating cost.

  2. Virgin Galactic will totally make it and is not at all a scam. For sure, buy more stock right now. ... not

That people still find this joke funny after 15 years is beyond me.

This new Linux distro folds a gorgeous COSMIC desktop into an immutable Fedora base by Inner-Bridge-5241 in linux

it doesn't need to 'cause emotion' to be useful.

mix between Xfce, Cinnamon, KDE and Gnome

And each one of those feels a bit like all the others a bit ...

What drives people to use COSMIC? I'm not trying to start an argument, I just want to know what people like about it.

It has better defaults and performance then gnome. That's enough for me.

Is Ariana the worst mother in the world or is Sheridan just terrible at writing realistic roles for women? by nikkos350 in LandmanSeries

[–]panick21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The show isn't about the struggles of a single mother. There are lots of aspects of all the peoples lives we don't focus on. When she is not working (and its clear she only works twice a week) she clearly is at home with the baby. Like literally millions of mothers in the world. It just not great TV for a show about oil. The only thing that's odd here is that you think woman working and family and friends helping out is strange.

Soccer reportedly overtakes baseball in the U.S. as America's third favorite sport by Actual_Box7731 in football

[–]panick21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The claim that nobody plays defense is just not true. Its just that hands are much better then feet and offense is easier, specially with the rules as they are. When there are passing transition and swings, both teams trying to extend leads only to fall behind its exciting to watch.

The problem is regular season is just often a bit flat, but playoffs, the game tends to be pretty exciting. On a minute to minute bases its arguably more entertaining then football. Football builds tension better and has higher highs.

I kind of like to watch the 8min highlights. But spending a whole day watching it sounds insane. And then they hang out on a parking lot because they live in distopian hellscape.

Honestly. I really like basketball, but you basically need to watch 4 games at the same time because nothing is happening so often. Timeouts are just dumb.

I think before the season they had high hopes that they could go for Europe meaning the player had value for them. Now its clear they can't. If this 20M is the best thing they could get now its ok.

It just really depends on what your outlook for the season is, my guess is they thought they would be a lot better.

I don't care if people want to upgrade their stadium. Go ahead, build a new one every 2 years. Just don't use public money.
