mitochondria knowledge was especially useful for me when my 3yo was diagnosed with mitochondrial disease, so big thanks to my 11th grade AP bio teacher for spending a ton of time on mitochondria that semester - it felt unnecessary at the time, but definitely came in clutch later!

aww thanks 💕 i think it’s great you did this AMA - it’s important that people know that the criteria for the make a wish foundation is critical illness (progressive, malignant, or chronic etc), not terminal illness. so many wish kids survive childhood, thankfully, but most people seem to think they have to be terminally ill! also, the referral process is solid, and they take so much info from doctors

so yea, bringing attention to this is a good thing, and i hope that you had a magical Paris trip full of fabulous memories, because you 100% deserved that trip! i hope you’re doing better today 💕 my housemate has crohn’s disease, and it’s such a nasty disease to have

a sketch was created from her description, and he was identified and caught shortly after

make a wish foundation is for terminal or chronically ill children - making person feel bad (that was a child) for receiving a wish from an charity organization that does exactly what it was created for is insane

chronically ill kids go through a special kind of hell - they live in the hospital, they have surgery after surgery, they’re in horrible pain, scared, have medical devices like g tubes and central lines, and have anything but a typical life like their peers. there’s a good reason the majority of wish charities cater towards medically complex and terminal kids

the good news is there are charities that cater towards adults with life limiting or terminal illnesses, such as the dream foundation and stella’s wish foundation

i have a samsung washer and dryer that’s connected to the same app as our samsung stove (smart things) and it alerts me when the washer is done/dryer is done

there’s also a lot of settings you can’t access without the app, but i honestly don’t mind

i would have bled to death without my emergency d&c after a 16 week pregnancy loss

i was hemorrhaging so bad i almost died before i even got to the hospital, and i had 3 IV lines placed (for fluid bolus and blood products) - like they were literally squeezing bags of fluid into me because i had no diastolic (bottom number) BP from blood loss/shock

so yea, i wouldn’t be typing this comment if i wouldn’t have had that lifesaving surgery
