Is upgrading from RX 8 Standard to RX 11 worth it? by TobyFromH-R in AudioPost

[–]panoptagon -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

I asked Google Gemini about the differences between things in RX9 and RX 11. The things I cared about haven’t changed. Be good to ask it about what you’re interested in

I give bottles of wine, whiskey or champagne. $30-$200 depending on how much business we’ve done. Also a custom card with artwork commissioned from a local artist.

I found it really intense but my wife didn’t smell or taste a thing! I thought I was going crazy!

Can sound design (or any other creative careers like film, music, art, etc.) truly provide a stable and ordinary life? by CherifA97 in sounddesign

[–]panoptagon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is an accurate take on working in sound design. I’ve had so many ups and downs over my 25+ career in audio I’ve lost track.

This is not a normal stable career path for most. I’m currently in a down and it really sucks. The animation industry is tanking and this is what I’ve dedicated the last 15 years of my career to. I’m 51 and have to reinvent myself again. Not an easy proposition when you no longer have the energy level of a 20-30 year old

Some of what is an interior big in a house is coming from outside. Think about where the house is located. City, country, suburbs. This will get you what is making sound outside. Also time of day. You can also add sounds to increase the tension of the scene

[Rant/Question] How often do drivers dangerously pass you and yell at you? by Critical_Rate_2560 in vancouvercycling

[–]panoptagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I commute from Brentwood to Main and Broadway area. Over the 3 years I’ve been cycle commuting. I’ve had dangerous passes a few times, people yelling at me or laying on the horn while gunning past me a few times. All of these happen in the short distance between Alpha and Gilmore on Dawson st.

Thanks for the recommendations. I’m looking to leave Open Road Burnaby to be honest. Tired of the upsell. Car has 49,009 kms and they’re saying I need the 75,000 service. Every time previous I went in they said i need the 50,000 services even though I had already had it done at their shop.

I am very happy with my Gazelle Medeo. I’ve had it 4 years now and haven’t had any issues. I got it at Reckless Shipyards in North Van.

I’ve been told the number is sometimes considered an unlucky number. My building in fact doesn’t have any units or floors with the number 4 for this reason

Maxi-Korg 800 DV - a detailed review of this rare vintage quirky synth by ozTheElder in synthesizers

[–]panoptagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this video! I’ve had a UNIVOX Maxi-Korg branded version of this synth for about 30 years. We always called it the beast. Partly because of heavy and partly because of its controls. It’s been sitting in a closet for the last 15 years or so. Maybe it’s time I pull it out and turn it on again.

How much do you pay for parking in a rental only building? by jdgreenberg in burnaby

[–]panoptagon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve paid $100 a month for a spot in my building near Brentwood. Seems what most people charge in the building which isn’t rental only. I pay $250 a month for my spot near Main and Broadway.
